If this is old news, or has already been said just close/delete it but when i search under isp's i mostly got crap about verizon.
So the RIAA contacts our ISP and ask for our info. Wouldn't it be something if our ISP told the Riaa every say 4 out of 10 request were in a different country. I doubt this would happen but it would be nice to see our isp's fight back. Maybe comcast, or MSN wouldn't do this but i know verizon has a score to settle, as they believe the riaa is targeting them

Well you can always read your ISP's Terms Of Serivce. See if they say anywhere about them having to give out your information if government asks for it yadayadayada. I know on my site, I say we will never give out your information unless the government makes us hand it over. So for my site we would fight for you. But were not p2p or anything :-)

If they were a different country then it wouldn't show up as mediacom or AOL as the ISP.
And the companies doing the riaa's scanning would know this,
i don't think that excuse would work to well.

Won't happen. Why? Basically because the courts have ordered the ISPs to reveal the information and no ISP is going to place themselves in contempt of court and face huge penalties or possible shutdown. They are appealing to higher courts but until those higher courts hears the case it's business as usual.

I reckon it'd be possible to try to make some ISPs add to their agreements that users identities will be kept confidential unless there is a reasonable threat of violence or harm to an individual at question. Depends on whether you've got an asshole govt. or not which would over-rule that I guess!!?
