The best way to get the RIAA to backoff is to organize politically and pressure congress to change
the copyright laws. Note that the Supreme Court ruled recently that congress could extend the length
of a copyright. Therefore, they are the major power behind making the world right for file sharing. If you'al worked to change that back to a reasonable length, and also change what is defined as fair use, the RIAA would definately be on the defensive.
Suggestion: search the websites of congressional, senatorial, and presidential candidates, and find a
champion that can lead the cause.
