How To Update Banned Ip Ranges, This is for v2.40 and up

1. Go to http://www.simply-click.org/uploadertest/p...2_plaintext.asp
or http://methlab.tech.nu/ and then look for the "Plain Text Version" link.
2. Copy the IP ranges
3. Then go to C:\Program Files\Kazaa K++\BannedIPs
4. Open the text file
5. Select All, Ctrl+A
6. Paste the new ones, Ctrl+V

Keep in mind the PG Database is the best we have at the moment, though you can add or delete ranges on your own.
You may also go to http://methlab.tech.nu/ and select their Feedback/Comments link if you wish.

Q: How do I know its working?
A: Its built in, though there is no log yet.

Q: How often should I update the IP's
A: Truth is, that is up to you, though once a week or so is ok.

Q: Does it block the IP's with other P2P programs.
A: No, it only loads with v2.40 and above.

or you can download a experimental program to update those ranges automatically, so you don't have to copy and paste all of the time. the program's author is Aldo Vargas (website (http://www.aldostools.com)).

I'm just a little confused about this. After it's run, is it already installed in K-Lite or is there another step?

The last build of kazaa k++ has the ip updater in the installer just select it from the tools and chack update from peerguardian or whatever and click update. mind you this is only a test version of kazaa lite 2.4.2, so obviously when the final version of 2.4.2 comes out itll come with it

With the new PG server we should be okay. Should be here in about a week.

When that's up I'll set up some pages for the auto-updaters specifically.

In the meantime, there's the temp. address or the old address (which will work between 1am and 5am til the new server arrives)

I think the coder of that program should find a way to support PG. maybe they could display an ad or something. i remember reading like half his hits were non-page views.

I haven't read too much about it yet, but there is a new version of k-lite K++, version 2.4.2 which will have an automatic PG list updater, a new supertrick/hosts file changer, and some other minor updates. Its allready to RC10 last time I checked.

It's cool... a lot of people have donated towards a new server so I should be able to handle the traffic very soon and I did expect traffic to increase anyway.

I'm more worried about effectively tracking BayTSP addresses at the moment, we're closer to a solution.

Anyway, it's 7am here and I haven't slept yet so.. nite, mornin', whatever. ::)

peace!

BayTSP is a stooge, and their probably smarter than one thinks, using the tracking software at home computers.
