I've been sharing since the good old days of Napster and am now a Kazaa Lite user. I was wondering if Kazaa Lite is safe from RIAA subpoenas and if not is there anyway to make it safe? If there is not a way are their any programs that are safe from the RIAA?

No KaZaA Lite and BitTorrent are probably the least safest programs you could use at this time.

Although there is no absolute safety and anonimity on the web, the ones that seem the safest right now are waste, freenet, private DC hubs and some say ES5.

Use the search option to research these in the forums and take your pick.

a new version of kazaa lite just came out. It had some IP addres sblocking, and another thing it says in the options menu that block the riaa. I question Kazaa still but the new version is a little safer... Don't let people fool you kazaa is still usable and still has all those gigs of files - their still the best since their are still as many users... but it isn't safe from the riaa. I do notice that late at night the number of users on has decreased so it's best in the day.

is there reallly ne point to have blocked ip ad from evil comps? Yeah maybe it helps the newbies of fasttrack but the ip ads need to be updated constantly., and keep in mind that that there are shit loads of bad ips that arent on the list

The new version of K++ is not safe. Everyday the RIAA gets new addresses.

kazaa has a site now, where you can download updates and replaced the log they have... this can be done daily addoing to the list of their detected blocked ip addresses. This still seems like a lot of trouble regardless.

That's not the problem. The problemo is that the addresses that Kazaa or PeerGuardian publish are "known addresses".

What about all those addresses that are NOT KNOWN?

The RIAA has millions of addresses that are known, and an equivalent of NOT KNOWN ADDRESSES.

Do you want to take a 50-50 risk? I'd prefer playing craps or roulet at a casino than facing enormous lawyer and punishment fees.

I like Filetopia, it's decentralized and encrypted. It has alot of full album compressed files

if you share ultra rare dutch trance mixes, or Indian folk music your neighbor sang for karaoke on his comp, you'll be fine.

if you share britney spears, or korn, or the dorsey brothers or the beatles, you won't be fine. ok?

if you share only obscure non riaa stuff you'll be cutting your risk into small, unreadable percentages.

kind of, i still believe on sharing all your files if you have aol whos is a member of the riaa - (no subpoenas against any of aol's users 150 verizon, 100 something comcast , are not on the country, or not just indie music. but the boycotttheriaa site has a list of record companies. It doesn't have to be indie music, as long as their not on that long last. Too bad virtually every one is. At my tower records, they have a list of all the artist who don't want you to use p2p, and comments. I took note of some of them and i will never buy a cd from them again. Sorry Shady
