WASTE a file sharing program released by Nullsoft Winamp made it impossible to find out who a user is sharing on a program. I was lucky to be able to download it and have tried it. Instead of having a central server or any server, you find out someones user name, a friend or a complete stranger. Then you connect directly to his computer and download from him./her. As i said before it is impossible for the record industry to try to find out who you are because the program is encrypted. Suprisingly though after only about a week of being out to download on Winamps site, the recording industry of america make a lawsuit that made sure distributuion of this program is illegal. The point im trying to stretch is that file programs like Kazaa with a central server will eventually be impossible to use due to the bombardment of the record industry. So rogue programs like waste will pop up. These kinds of programs will be the future of file sharing. The only places i really found that you could download waste from was Kazaa, or maybe Bearshare. But check other programs, and please reply to this thread.

WASTE has been around for a good enough time that some people know about it. You can still get it off some sites that host it. It's also probably the safest thing out there (that and private DC hubs).

Umm...no...
AOL Time Warner (Nullsoft's parent company as of a few years back) had it removed. They've done the same with many of Justin's works...guess he shouldn't have sold out? He's already stated he'd be leaving the company to start a new one...I know they pulled in atleast 2 million for Nullsoft with CEO rights and such...so moving on with that chunk of change wouldn't be to hard on 'em.
I agree with SFOL....DC hubs that are private have more appeal to me. If I wanted to trade files with 'buds' I could just use a crappy program like MSN/ICQ/AIM to trade files and IRC has loads of servers with fserv set up for file distro...be it Anime fan subs...brand new TS movies or full CD's at 320 in mp3 format or 450 in OGG...it's all there for the taking.

ya, in my mind nullsoft's WASTE is a great program due to the anonomisity(if thats a word). I have been using this program for quite a while. i like the speeds it has, because u are DIRECTLY downloading off of another user!

Nullsoft no longer develops Waste. It's open source now and here is the latest version.

Actually he used AOL money to develop WASTE and then took off with the product when they refused to release it. He didnt sell out, he used the system. Smart.

Actually he did sell out...he sold Nullsoft to AOL....before he was free to do whatever he wanted and now he's stuck getting paid good money and whipping up apps...many of which AOL seems to dislike...from what I've heard he's already trying to create another company and move on. I'm sure he made a fat chunk of change off the TW dipshits. Hell I would have done the same if the money was right.
