Not sure what you mean cut down but if you mean to cut into pieces that fit onto a cd how about virtualdub. Follow the link for a guide and some other info. Great site for this stuff.

Yah, or you can get AVIchop, it knows WHERE to chop, at the key frames, w/o screwing it up.
Browse to the file, then set for 701 Mb, then set to resave the new file to another space.

appreciate the info and direction. it's difficult to
get everything back after hp tech had me reformat
and crashed me. they had to ship me another.
