K-lite has a French version, I'm not sure if Shareaza has one too.

Edit: Just looked at the Shareaza website, it looks like it supports French too.

Quite possibly the stupidest Zeropaid comment ever. French is one of only two languages which is spoken on all six continents (English is the other).

Well no one really lives on the 7th continent, but if you want to be picky there are French scientists in Antarctica at certain times of the year.

I'm going to need to pick up another language here in college down the road... I'm thinking of French. I've taken spanish, it's easy, but I don't know if I want to continue with it... what language should i take?

My experience was this. It all depends on where you think you'll be in life. I thought it would be nifty in high school to take French in the 9th grade. About the only thing I learned was there were some horny ass female seniors in my class. But I still felt it was a better choice than Spanish. I had heard quite enough Spanijsh growing up here in California.

Jump forward 8 years later and I'm stationed in Germany. Decided to go to EuroDisney (now Disneyland Paris). That was the extent of my usage of French. One lousy trip to a lousy theme park with some of the rudest and disgusting people I have ever come into contact with. (Bottom Line: Don't visit there.)

Now, being back in the real world for the past nine and a half years, I have discovered that knowing Spanish would have been my best choice, especially for the last three years as my jobs would have been that much less frustrating had I knew what the hell they were saying (and vice-versa, I'm sure).

Don't know the ethnicity of Minnesota but I suppose being close to Canada might prompt you to take some French since you already have some Spanish under your belt. Maybe you could shoot for Tagalog or Japanese?

Well if your looking to learn languages french, english and spanish are the most prominent. I remember reading somewhere that if you know those 3 languages you can comunicate with 90% of the world. In Canada the only place where you would truely need to know french would be Quebec everywhere else has french but not to the same extent, and the french in other parts of canada know english as well.

As for this guys problem since this is a 2 year old thread I dont feel the need to help him out.

let's see, there's france french. quebec french, acadian french (which is easy to learn because it's half-english- "tu vas au bingo lately?" and "ne marchez pas dans le mud") :)

If you read CRLocky's post, you'll see that this thread has renewed meaning.

But, since I am the guilty party here, I will confess straight up. I was looking for a French thread. Period. I found one. I posted my biz. It took off.

Enjoy.

I think arcadian french is just Canadian french. Because thats exactly how most of the french comunity in manitoba speaks. Theres also a differnt accent in every town you visit. Most seniors can tell you what town someone comes from because they recongnise the accent.

my dad is canadian french (quebecois) while my mom was acadian. she had a hell of a time speaking french to his family (those 2 examples above are things she'd actually said). kinda felt like we needed a u.n. interpreter on visits to quebec :)

The problem is I think all french around the world is filled with there own quirks that makes it original. If you think its hard to understand quebec french fleecy just wait till you go to france. Its hard to get your head around it.

As for SUprEMeBeiNg comment from years back Il est juste un modit morveux

Japanese!!!!!!!!!

Or Korean. I know your school offers both.

However, Spanish is pretty useful in the Mpls-St. Paul area.

Maybe take Hebrew. Is that an option? My roommate knows some. :p

I agree, I'll have to weigh my major and hopefully profession later in life. One thing I'm taking into heavy consideration, is I work for an airline, and can travel basically anywhere for cheap. I visited paris last april and loved it... so it'd be cool to be able to hop over there for 2 or 3 days and enculturate myself. Not only that, but to other French speaking locations as well. True, the French are extremely proud of their language, but so what, what culture isn't ethnocentric to some extent?

I've taken some Spanish, and it's not bad, and it would definitely be a great tool. But I feel as if I can pick that up anytime. I have a few outside of school sources to help me with that too.

lol, Japanese was also something I was considering... but shit they talk fast! Korean doesn't seem to be an interest for me... I don't know why. Hebrew is offered, I know someone taking that, and I was considering it, or atleast learning a middle eastern language. Arabic was also considered, and Latin. But I'm thinking I'll do Latin later in life, because I'm only interested for it's historical value.
