i cant connect to the piolet network; i checked their faq but im pretty sure i dont have a firewall. my dsl is routed through my dad's computer, he may have one but that wouldn't explain why i could use kazaa and he uses limewire. any ideas?

Is computer networked to your dad's by a router? Some routers have an internal firewalls that ya need open ports through.

yeah theres a little homeportal router connecting them. another thing i noticed is that in the preferences section there is something for like adding numbers of places to connect to the network through, and mine has none, i dont know if that has to do with the problem or not

If you are sharing an Internet Ip Address, you are behind a very strict firewall which will block virtuall ALL uninvited inbound traffic.
The reason is, since you are sharing an IP address, anyone attempting to send an uninvited packet to you does not know which computer the packet belongs to since multiple computers are sharing the same ip address.
Outbound connections/packets set up a dynamic mapping which allow inbound responses, but, uninvited inbound traffic will be blocked.

If you are also running Windows XP the firewall could automatically be on as they do turn it on. Make sure you disabled it.

I am not using Piolet/Blubster at this time, but if I remember correctly. Piolet/Blubster uses UDP Protocol instead of TCP Protocol used by Kazaa. Windows2000 may assigned certain ports for UDP ports, have you try changing the default UDP port used by Piolet/Blubster? If not, you should check with Piolet/Blubster forum for answer to your problem!

Not working for me either. I opened the port on the firewall, tried everything... anyone know a fix?
