Hi,

yesterday I updated to Kazaa Lite 2.4 (got it from the official Kazaa Lite Website).

A few hours later my firewall (ZA Pro) asked me whether I want to allow kazaalite to send an e-mail?!
Unfortunately I have not been able to ascertain where it would be directed or what it might have contained.

I have used previous versions for over a year and never had a similar experience.

Does anyone know why Kazaalite wants to send an email from my computer???

Virus and Adware/Spyware scans did not yield any result....

This does not sound right....

I've seen this problem before, does anyone have any suggestions, or what the hell is causing the problem?

is it just me, or have there been a couple of threads asking why different p2p programs wanna send an email? and weren't both of thsoe threads from people using zonealarm?

sounds like this "n00b" is dirty to me.

Well isus,

I think it's good to be paranoid in these days, but I can assure you that in this case it's not warranted.

Just ignore what firewall I use (I just included the info to make it easier to pinpoint the possible source of the prob..)

Other users seem to have had a similar experience. I am not familiar how KLite 2.4 was made (from scratch or stripped down version of newer Kazaa version?) , but can it be possible that some spyware code was forgotten to be removed?

In any case I will keep watching this phenomenon....because it annoys the hell out of me. I have been using various firewalls over the past years and this is the first time I've ever seen this e-mail warning.

The explenation in the last similar thread, was that kazaa was sending information on the email port. That doesn't mean that its trying to send an email.

Change your port number in kazaa, or don't worry about it.
