I am a writer for Maximum PC (US) and am finishing up a story on the RIAA's recent proclamations and how they have (or haven't) affected filesharers.

I would like to hear from users about any changes they feel they have seen in file availability and selection, how they feel about the level of privacy afforded by their file sharing tool(s) of choice, and whether people are changing their behavior (trying to rotate IPs more often, doing more filesharing from wireless hotspots, changing filesharing clients, etc.)

I am particularly interested to hear from anyone who has ever, particularly recently, received any sort of direct communication from the RIAA.

I have to submit my story Friday morning, so time is of the essence. Thanks.

If you really are pressed for time you will want to give the forum search engine a try. Put in "riaa" for example you will find 3 or 4 stories on the first page (most current) that are full of relevant material for you, and dozens more on the following pages (from history.) Put in "notice" you will find several copies of actual ISP notices to cease and desist.

And so on, this way you may get the balance of information you need rather than whatever our little menagerie cares to tell you today, comprende?

Here's a relevant news link

The news is also searchable but there's usually no point as all the current stories are on the first page.

I have been a subscriber since the early BOOT days.

I have also been a file sharer for many years, and I think I pretty much have my finger on the pulse of things. If you want some resource materials, or would like to ask some questions, I will be more than happy to help.

PM me with your daytime phone number and email address for proof, I will help you expedite this.

I now pay attention to my upload ques and do "WHOIS" on IP's I see.

I am especially drawn to IP's that dont have a user name tied to them. I have yet to find any bad boys but I've caught some trying to scan me.

I don't think it's affected file avalibility, but I think more people will be going to networks besides kazaa. I have re-discovered WinMX. (I would ask you not to mention winmx in your article because the people who write it try hard to stay below the radar and they do a good job of it.)

I think it's scared people, it's scared me.
