help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm a complete novice when it comes to file sharin and could do with some help from you lot in the kno.

i tried kazaa 2.5 but every time i tried to download any files all i kept getin was virus or worm warnins. i'm usin pc cillin real time monitor and it just stops the downloads.

is there anything i can do? is there a better sharin site/prog? or is it just something you have to live with and turn the virus prog off?????????

Unfortunately, the fasttrack network (Kazaa/KazaaLite, Grokster, partially iMesh) is like that with virii.

Small executables *.exe are the most abundant for virii. The only thing you can do is be smart about what you download, keep updated virus definitions, and you also might want to make sure there are a good amount of sources for such a file as the chances a bunch of people having the same virus infected file is not as big.


Also, I've noticed you said you were using Kazaa 2.5.

The regular Kazaa client is not only inferior, but is also jam packed with spyware/adware, something you don't want on your PC.

I suggest uninstalling Kazaa, then using an adaware/spyware removal program such as adaware (http://www.lavasoft.de), or maybe spybot search and destroy (I use both). Run them, and remove the spyware adware it detects, but do be careful.

Next, download the latest version of Kazaa Lite (http://k-lite.tk).

I agree with Ken17625. I have had Kazaa-Lite for over a year now and love it. I'm running Norton Corp. A/V and it Quarantines the file and cleans my infected d/l's automaticly.
A good A/V is a must have. Plus once cleaned you should be able to continue d/l or using that file.

Well, all problems except for your common virus.. K-Lite or not You need a good antivirus. I'd go with Norton 1st or McAffee 2nd.
