I got a pop up message from my firewall, Zone Alarm, saying that eMule (.29b) was trying to send an email. Does anyone know why this might be??????
Thanks,
Mark

Hmm, are you using http://www.zeropaid.com/news/articles/auto/07072003a ?
Hm, is there something about usage statistics in the options? I've never used it so I couldn't tell you.
Also, did this alert you on your first time starting emule?

There's several post on this subject here (http://www.emule-project.net/board/index.php?act=Search&CODE=show&searchid=3c55a7b698315a9cf9c3c4652731a53a&search_in=titles&result_type=topics&highlite=email).
It's normal for emule.
This is the best explantion here (http://www.emule-project.net/board/index.php?showtopic=21818&hl=).

No, this is a problem of Zonealarm. Some people are running their eMule/Hybrid/Mldonkey on Ports usually used by other Protocols (Port 80 HTTP, Port 110 POP3, Port 25 SMTP, Port 23 Telnet...). So if your eMule connects to another client running on Port 25, which ist ususally used for sending mails, Zonealarm reports this as an outgoing eMail. But it's only a normal eMule connection on an unusual port.
More here (http://www.emule-project.net/board/index.php?showtopic=22971).

Hatsumi: Hope that helps. It makes sense, basically just says that sometimes other eMule clients set their ports to ports commonly used by other services, and programs like ZoneAlarm mistake it for the wrong thing. SMTP uses port 25, so if a client is using that port and you attempt to connect to it, ZA might think you're connecting to an SMTP server to send mail.
