I have used this program for the past couple of months and it is excellent, very effective and free. It also is not a memory hog and allows you to run other applications with no problems and no slowdown of the computer when the virus scan is running. I automatically downloaded the latest version (4.0.235) when it came out. I The first time I used Avast , it located and removed a virus than AVG could not remove or quarantine, found other viruses on my computer that other anti-virus programs missed and gave me the option to delete or quarantine the virus.
It also gives you the option of a quick scan, standard scan or thorough scan . I keep the program running in the background all the time and its great. It automatically updates itself regularly and it provides full time protection for all files and programs on my computer plus it protects my E-Mail. It also does not disrupt or block my E-Mail as some anti-virus prorgams have done when they change the account settings. All around great program and its free for home use. What more could anyone ask for?
