can't hear midi files in XP using my sound card

Dear friends on Zeropaid, I wish I have this problem solved coz I like midi files sooo much. When I was using Windows 98SE, I was hearing midi files using the hardware midi synthesis built onto my sound card (creative sound blaster pci 64) but when upgraded to XP pro, I noticed that the midi files do not sound the same quality as b4. After going to the sounds and audio devices applet in control panel and moving to this page (shown below) I discovered that Microsoft insisted on playing midi files for me. When I tried to switch to my sound card, I heard nothing at all and the "Volume" and the "about" options turn to be inactive (dimmed) – Any body fixed this ??????? – Thx so much in advance

Right Click My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager

Under Sound Video and Game Controllers, are there any problems?

Do you see Creative SB (WDM)? On the Properties Tab for it, Under Midi Devices and Instruments, look for Creative Midi SB Synth

Check to see that Use this Device is selected.

If none of this is available, you may want to uninstall all your Devices under Sound Video and Game Controllers, and install the Sound Blaster Drivers for XP from their site.

Also, make sure that your Advanced Setting is enabled on your Volume Controls, and that the Bass and Trable is turned up.

Also, go to Start > Run and type DXDIAG
(warning, your monitor may BLANK out for a sec, dont freak)

Go to Music and see what you have listed under Test using this Port.

Do the music tests and see if you have a SB option.

Sorry that what was said for me didn't help so here u r a more simple and concised rephrase of what i really need...
I am an XP Pro user and I own the sound card: Creative sound blaster pci 64. When I was using windows 98SE, There was a file called “EAPCI2M.ECW” which was being copied among the sound card drivers and it was the reason why the midi files sound so great (coz this file contains lots of samples of musical instruments) but now with XP, although I have got the XP driver for this card from Creative's site and installed it, Microsoft still uses its own synthesizer “Microsoft GS wavetable GS synth”. My question is how to use this file “EAPCI2M.ECW” in the midi playing process instead of that of Micrsoft – Many thanks
