Just wondering how much people are willing to pay when roxio starts up the new napster, and are u willing to pay a membership fee, and another fee just to download the song to your hard drive to burn.

Come on baby Light my Fire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:devil

I'd be willing to pay as high as $20.00/ month or .25/ song. I doubt I'll be in luck.

i wouldn't pay. at all. roxio has a habit of delivering cheap products... have you ever tried burning a cd with winxp? im pretty sure that that is roxio technology.

it's worthless, if you haven't used it. i always get coasters. some people have better luck...

anyway, the new napster will not be napster. it will be misuse of a p2p name to try to bring popularity. i would doubt that roxio would have the line up of media companies that apple's music store has, and that'll be coming to windows soon enough.

i won't waste my time, breath, or money on anything roxio puts out.

My ISP recently lounched a service called 'music club'...
There are over 200 000 songs to download, for a monthly fee...

Well, because it's my ISP, I got a few weeks free trial period...
I tried to download a song (legally) and what do I get? A not working song! The stupid thing doesn't even work. When I click the downloaded file, it says I need an authorisation or something to be able to play the file... But I was already logged in to the service when I downloaded it, and followed every step they advised...

So basically, how do they expect us to download legally... when the services don't work??

AND, legal services are much more complicated that for example kazaa.... You have to log in... click forward.. click again..

With kazaa it's just search, click, BOOM

Unless they simplify legal downloading a lot, for the n00b users, they wont have any succes...

I'll pay up to $10 a month, and I want roxio to make deals with our ISPs to raise our bll $10.

I'd agree to this. Otherwise no, I will not pay per download.

If I pay $10 a month I want to download from Roxios servers, not from peers, if we are sharing files I dont think we should pay for that. I'll pay for the ability to download music and music videos, I want to be able to choose between several formats like mp3, ogg and flac, I want to be able to choose between various quality levels, I want videos to be in mpeg 4, and I want it to be ad free. if theres ads then we shouldnt be paying per month.

And then you put something down that isn't even out yet. You don't like anything. Everything sucks to you. Probably the only thing you'd give a good review to is an anal vibrator.

ZERO

and not a penny more.

FileHoover that's funny lol. too many people are on a mental platform, minds weak and opinions insubstantial and untested. too much speculation not enough depth.
Now where's my anal vibrator...the twin speed one I gave a good review too....

uh uh oh yes

Why pay something, when you can get it for free on kazaa or something. I know the RIAA is cracking down on people, but im gonna use kazaa up until the very end. It doesn't matter to me who makes it or not, cause i still wouldn't pay.

Exactly $0.00 and not a penny more.

I pay $50 to my ISP every month and that is all I need to cover all of my digital enertainment and software needs. That will NEVER change.

Grow up, FileHoover. The whole point of this place is to state your opinion.

i would pay.
but i think a buck a song is too much.
like others have said, that is the same as a cd, but without the cd and all of it's packaging and such.
i would pay like, 25 cents per song or less.
what i really like about dling off the net is that it is in my home, i can choose the single i want and create the perfect cd.
i can choose the quality i want.
and i have a massive amount of variety.
from rare to mixes to foreign.
i need to see what these pay services can offer.
we will obviously have to wait for the perfect service who respects us, the consumer, as well as the artist.

I agree with the comments made by LamourLady . I will wait and see what this new service offers as far as variety of music and artists, quality of downloads, price per song or per month etc. I would consider paying a maximum of .25 per song or $12.00 per month , provided there are no minimum charges and you can select whatever you want whenever you want.

I do wonder how many songs or artists this new pay service will even have available at least at first. Unless they can come close to matching what I find on Blubster (clean-Dr damn version) , Imesh (clean- Dr damn version of course) or Kazaa Lite, why would I even be interested ?

The main reason I know I will never subscribe to pay services(other than I am a cheap bastard. lol) is that I doubt they will be able to keep up with my demand for new music of eclectic genres. Bluster and Kazaa are completely inadequate for music. I usually cannot find anything I am interested in on those 2. Soulseek comes the closest and winmx in 2nd place. Of course newsgroups are a good resource also.

But even if this service had a good selection, it would completely break my wallet. Even at $0.25 a song. :cross

I'm willing to pay, as a one time fee, the check I am supposed to get from the RIAA for price fixing CD's for all of those years.

Not a penny more and not a penny less...

begoodbebad
July 7th, 2003, 10:42 AM
I don't believe anyone here who say they are willing to pay(except dhiser lol) It's bullshit. If you're willing to pay then why bother filesharing? If you can get a high quality rip for free why pay for a lo quality lo bitrate over compressed rip? Now you have a choice of any music you want. With a pay site you only can choose what the RIAA wants you to choose. You want this? Bullshit.
If you want to pay then pay but if you don't want to pay don't tell everyone"if only it was a little cheaper, if only it was like this, if only it was like that , maybe next week, maybe next year" . ZP ZERO PAID zero, nothing ,nought, nil, none, not now, never, no.

Nada, if I like music I download, I just buy the CD.
Fortunately none of the music I listen is owned by RIAA labels. :bling

All i can say is IMHO so far none of the paid filesharing services have offered anything acceptable both in terms of price or quality (mp3 quality as well content).

Also i would like point out that it will very difficult to get ppl into paid services while free version are out there that get better results for no charge.

just helping you out Isus so you can see...btw if you have filehoover blocked why are you interested in what he has to say? Do you feel this implies some kind of contradiction or confusion on your part?
When you two fine fellows start the anal vibrator party can someone please film it and submit it to sharereactor to make an ed2k link? thanks.
