I'm just starting with eMule, and I've noticed the many mods available to users. Now, it may be great to have many clients to choose from, but doesn't it also mean that someone could write a malicious client that harms the network? You could tell people not to use such clients, but would it help?

Does "bad" clients really exist, or am I just too paranoid?

BTW, I'm currently using eMule Plus (I like eye candy...). Can anyone comment on this client please?

yes, there are bad clients! The best know one would probably be the so called "mison mod", these mods don't upload at all and are toatally agaisnt everything p2p stands for and their creators should be hanged or something.
Also, WHAT eye candy??? emule+ looks just like reg emule to me!

eMule Plus was originally billed as the eye-candy mod because it looked so much better than the first eMules, which looked horrible. It was mostly in the icons and menus.

They are similar now. eMule plus is still the way to go, unless you don't like the way it uploads.

To answer your question, yes there are many bad clients. I don't really know of any that are English made. Most are popular that are German or Dutch or French. And because of them being in languages I do not know, I don't know how many there are. But alot of modders of 'official' emule mods do know, and they put in automatic scripts in their mods that block connections to the bad mods. But don't worry. Even though there are a few of these mods out there, most people do not use them because they care about the network. Most people actually like to upload on this network.
