I'm a new user of Kazaa Lite 2.0+. Just downloaded it and can't get connected. Help says that AOL may block on port 1214 but attempts to change it (tried 7001) haven't succeeded. Must confess that I don't know what a port scanner is so I wasn"t able to check if that was the problem. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

you should be able to use port 21... i think that's... uhh... ftp. as long as you don't try running an ftp app and kazaa at the same time, you should be ok. i think. wait for somebody smarter than me to tell you what to do tho. lol.

Under AOL, are you a master account? When i had a restricted account under AOL it blocked any other program from acessing the net (even IE).
Can you run any other file sharing application?
Also change your incoming port to 80, I think this is an option in the non beta versions of k-lite.
I'm not possitive, but I don't think its a problem to run two apps on one port.

See the following thread in the Kazaa Lite forum: Aol Locks Kazaa (http://www.klboard.ath.cx/bb/index.php?showtopic=49160)
EDIT: you need to be a member to read it, and in case you aren't here's the message:
My friend has AOL and it has made a lock on kazaa to where he cant open it i found a way to get it open for him just open kazaa before he opens AOL and it works i hope this helps anyone else that has this problem

when i researched on the best ISP i came accross an article about ISP and file sharing- it said that AOL has tried to limit the use of file sharing on it's servers so my advice to you is try random ports or look on the net for fixes and ways round (this may take time to find info but it is possible) or as kazaa is well known now many organizations that work against file sharing flood the network with bad ip ranges and bad files (corrupt) try researching other file sharing like shazaa, MIRC (will need firewall protection for some of the rooms), torrents, e donkey, www.binnews.com (small monthly fee but very fast downloads but latest files)
i'll keep an eye out abd i'll let u know if i find anything
