I think this is the right place to post this, since I want software for Windows.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for webcam software which has a time limit feature e.g. takes a snapshot after a certain amount of seconds or minutes. I've been doing some searching but haven't found anything yet. Any of yall have experience with any?

Thanks in advance.

What kind of camera do you have? Most manufacturers will have software to go with the camera that will do something like that.

I haven't used yahoo in a while, but the last time I checked, you couldn't do that, same with trillian.

If you're on XP, then go to the Microsoft Powertoys (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp) site and get that timer shot program.

Thanks for the reply.

The webcam I have is Mustek Wcam 300, nothing special but suits my needs. It came with a lot of software but none of them have timer features. I have Windows XP Pro but that powertoys software didn't detect my cam for some reason.

Hmm, sucks to be you. Are you sure you have the latest drivers for it? and can any other program detect it?

Most programs can't detect ALL cameras, but they catch most, you may be a little unlucky.

Yeah I have the latest drivers and all my other programs detect it, even Windows Movie Maker.

The software the my Logitech uses does it, and works with other webcams, you can Dl from their site, its like 14 Mb if I recall.

Thanks, I'll give it a try if I can find it.

I found another way to do it with Windows Movies Maker, just record video then capture image of a clip. Doing it that way makes the quality quite bad though so I'll give that other software a shot.

Hey, ALL!

Especially Phalkon!!

Here I am ALIVE and back with you again...hopefully for about 6 months then gone again.

But on to the subject. I have a similar question about webcams.

I got the Logitech Messenger and I'm using AIM. The thing is I get the video NP but the audio can't be connected.

Has anyone had these problems?

Or any suggestions?

NetMeeting is last resort for those ppl who want to suggest it...DON"T! LOL

Thnx in advance!

Krell, do ya think you could give me a direct link, I checked the logitech site and been through all the webcam models looking for a software which was 14 MB or so, but most are in the 40's.

If you're using XP, a PowerToys tool has a webcam timer where you can set intervals to take pics. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

It's at the very bottom aptly entitled "Webcam Timershot"

I went to the Logitech site as well and downloaded the only 40 meg download I could find there. It was decent, but had no timing option. Peace.

Not sure if this is what you want, but it's a nice little proggy anyway.

I use SnagIt (http://www.techsmith.com/products/snagit/features.asp) which has a timelapse photography option (as well as loads of others). I normaly use it to capture Yahoo webcams :aim

It is shareware, but I'm sure you could obtain a key from somewhere ;-)
