There is an option in blubster's settings to tell it which port to use. When you find that setting, it has a default port. Foward that same port through the router and it will connect. Can't remember the exact port right now or I would tell you.

Here, this is what you do....when you install blubster, set the port range from 20480 to 20480 and then open up that port in the router config. Easy as that.

Do you have any software firewalls running? Do you have WinXP? Is the XP Firewall on? How exactly are you opening up the ports in Linksys? Have you fowarded ports before? Are you sure you know what you are doing?

I'm not sure you should be using port fowarding. there is an option according to the user manual that is called port triggering. This is what (edit*) MY router (D-link) used to open up a port by specific application.
FW edit: I checked my Blubster settings and the only port I had to open was 41170. This was added as a trigger port and public port. The default of tcp was changed to udp and there was box for enable( make sure you check that if there is one on a linksys.)
Do you have the user manual to refer to? It's on page 44 of the pdf. file from linksys.com
Here is a cut and paste of the text see if anyof it makes any sense to any screens you can find.
Port Triggering
From the Port Range
Forwarding tab, shown
in Figure 5-18, click
the Port Triggering
button to allow the
Router to watch outgoing
data for specific
port numbers. The IP
address of the computer
that sends the
matching data is
remembered by the
Router, so that when
the requested data
returns through the Router, the data is pulled back to the proper computer by
way of IP address and port mapping rules.
1. Enter the Application Name of the trigger.
2. Enter the Trigger Port Range used by the application. Check with the
Internet application for the port number needed.
3. Enter the Incoming Port Range used by the application. Check with the
Internet application for the port number needed.
4. Click the Apply button.

Tell us how you're port forwarding...its possible to do something wrong.
Also, I've never used blubster, but some programs require you to forward UDP and TCP ports, are you doing both?

I solved it with my router, its a wireless Microsoft.
I did persistent port forwarding to that one port, app triggered didnt work for me.
I had to restart Blubster for it to work, make sure you did that too. :wings

There seem to be alot of people that don't know how to use a firewall. We get a number of calls each day about configuring these things becuase people won't read the damn manuals. And also something will ping their computer and they'll call us that their computer has been hacked. You also might want to get a software firewall, my favorite is sygate, becuase it can alert you when an unknown program is trying to send information which is usually a sign of spyware.

Well, if you're lazy like me, set up DMZ hosting on your router (if your model supports it)
DMZ hosting completely opens up one computer on the network to the internet, it turns off the NAT for that computer. If you do this, you need to get a software firewall like ZoneAlarm.
What OS are you on?

Look in the maual for a section about a DMZ. If you put your system into the dmz then all ports will be open. But your system will be totally exposed to outside idiots. My advice is learn to use your router by using the settings that have been explained / shown to you. It takes some trial and error to figure out whats what but if you go and visit linksys and maybe do a google on linksys router settings you will find all you need to know.

1) Log into your router gateway.
2) Click on the advance tab.
3) Click on the forwarding tab.
4) There should be a list of fields.
5) In the customized application field enter Blubster. (It can be any name.)
6) In the Ext. Port field enter "20480 to 20480".
7) Select the Protocol TCP and Protocol UDP.
8) In the IP address, enter the IP address of your computer.
If you don't know run winipcfg.
9) Click the OK button.
Tell me if that works or not.

I don't use Blubster, but I know there's five problem areas to look at:
Blubster: Is Blubster configured correctly?
Windows XP: Is the firewall on?
Firewall: Is the software firewall configured right?
Router: Are you forwarding the ports?
ISP: Your ISP maybe blocking certain ports.

Give up Jelsoft, this thread started by this guy whining about his blubster not working. People have given suggestion after suggestion. Then this person comes out and says "I don''t care about blubster, I just want to turn off my router firewall all together". So why has he wasted all of our time up to this point. He claims to have the manual but obviously he isn't interested in reading it or taking any hints. For all we know he still has his XP firewall enabled which means he most likely will never get out. Good luck mp3master.
