I am downloading a movie now with emule but at the harddisc side there is not a change in the file size. that is my all folders' file sizes are staying same during the download. all emule files too.
why can it be? i am very suprised since i do not know where the files are going. harddisc capacities, file capacities never changed and i have downloaded 70% of the movie.

As soon as you queue the movie, that amount of file space is allocated to that file. So you won't notice an increase as the movie progresses.

Next time, check the folder size before you even queue the movie. Then check after it's queued. You'll see the increase then.

Yeah, I think it allocates the file space to reduce defragmentation....and its just easier to write the data if you think about it.

I understood that:) It allocates the space before the download starts. thanks for your interest.

Right. eMule allocates the space to the file first, and then fills the dummy data with the actual stuff as you DL it. Pretty good way of ensuring you have enough space, actually.
