Hi, I was wondering what everyone thought to be the best music sharing program. I have Grokster right now, but I've been having troubles with it for sometime now and I think I'd like to change to something that gives alot more search results. Also, if I should happen to switch to Kazaa of something of such, is there anyway I can transfer my Grokster files to the new one??
Thanx,
Megan

There are a ton of other clients, I'll just answer your second. Yes, whatever program you choose to go with, you will be able to transfer over all of your present files to that program.

I like Blubster 2.5.....You can get it under news programs. Other than that, you're just gonna get a lot of opinions. Janet has the right idea. Research a bit and download what you think you might like. It comes down to trial and error.....and what your preferences are.
And yes, you can transfer your files easy, or you can just designate where your shared directory is.....This also works for dat files within certain parameters. For example, if you were using the FastTrack network with Grokster, then decided to switch over to Imesh, but you don't want to lose your downloads.....Just transfer your files and Imesh will contine to download them.....and you don't lose your downloads, viola.

Janet 999 is right. There is tons of information available on this site to find out about the various music sharing programs. Everyone has their favorites (mine for the record are Ares Galaxy, clean Blubster and Clean Imesh.) You may want to try some out but I strongly suggest you avoid the ones with spyware and adware (use Kazaa lite instead of Kazaa) or use the links to the clean Blubster and Clean Imesh programs supplied at this site. Many of the spyware laced programs will make a major mess of your computer. Trust me its not worth it.
And most important of all. Have fun downloading.

Soulseek is good for electronic, indie, and more. Basically everything except top 40 and polka.
These are serious sharers here. Expect mostly high quality (read: LAME 192k/sec+)
mp3s (full albums prefered). Also they have no patience for leechers and those who share RIAA stuff.
