I downloaded the clean version last night and I had the same problem. It would keep saying connecting. I started to mess with the settings (no help) and it seemed to run a little slow. What I have learned is that the song scanner took forever and it seemed to slow the rest of the program down while it was hashing my library. Once it got through a considerable amount of my library it finally connected. I also played with it after it finished hashing, opening & closing the program and now it connects fine and the program is not sluggish anymore.

make sure windows xp's firewall is turned off...

go to the network connection's properties, over to advanced, make sure the box is deselected, then press ok.

otherwise, you might have something else (zonealarm) blocking udp... *shrug*

Had the same problem myself with the Piolet also, I FIXED IT TOO.

I myself am behind a router, a Microsoft one.

The solution is to startup Blubster and then go to settings....

And then on the left panel select Protocol.....

Under Network Gateways.....
Select Edit Gateways.....

And then add...

Type in the address of your router (eg. 192.168.2.1 --- may be different with Linksys)

Click OK then Accept, then exit and restart, and it should work

Yeah I noticed the hashing took a long time also. But once you get it going it's not too bad just not enough sources for some searches.

Anybody know about the upgraded security on this network? Supposedly it can mask your ip but I'm not clear on how they go about it.

All that needs to be forwarded is UDP port 41170 and all will be dandy. Check their site.
