Hi! I came across a post on some forum where someone seemed to be offering a few episodes of an old TV program for download. She provided the link to download WinMX. However, I have no idea what to do with it. I've never done anything like this before, and there is no "help" information provided on the program itself as yet. Proceeding blindly, I typed in "-----------" as her post suggested and hit "search". A music file came up. SO I then clicked "video" and retyped "------------", then clicked search. I got a list which included the episode "-----------" so I clicked that, then "download". This was Saturday night. I think I got the message that there were 4 in queque. By bedtime it said 2. I left the computer on and sometime during the night looked and it seemed to be saying it had downloaded about 1/10 of it. By the middle of Sunday morning there had been no change in that number. Then my computer crashed. After I restarted it and did the search again, it said there were 98 in queque! Anyway, I again clicked that episode and download, but not a thing has happened since then that I can tell.Would someone be willing to answer a few questions about this? When I clicked on "download" a different screen came up. I'm assuming it put me in the queque. Correct? If I then click on "search" in that screen, I get sent back to the original screen. Have I now lost my place in the queque, or am I still automatically there? I haven't touched any of the other buttons on WinMX. Are there any I should be concerned with at this point? Is there anything else I should do except stay connected indefinitely?
Also, I believe I have Windows Media Player (free version) set to receive the file . I also have the free versions of RealOne and Quicktime. Are any of these preferable over the others?
Any help you may offer is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Krell

Good morning

I want you to note a few deletions where I edited your post. One is the obvious omission of a title. It is not required that you name anything in particular, and we try to not draw attention to a certain media.

You have compound issues here. One is the basic computer functionality, where your PC crashes from Winmx use. Another is the lack of results, or long queues to wait for your file to download.

Lets take some time to deal with these preliminary concepts, and to address them on a logistical manner.

This site will help you to grasp the use of winmx

Spend plenty of time here, and follow the guides etc with the use of Winmx.

Another thing to note is that you may need to use a SECONDARY connection, instead of a PRIMARY one.

Moving along, Your rebooting issues will be more to nail down. I will work with you on that one myself, and I will want some more specific info later today.

In the mean time, I ask you to use a small app, it will tell you some new things about your PC, and tell me things I would otherwise not be able to solicite from you. The app is Aida32, and once you run it, at the top, is REPORT. Save the report to *your-name.MHTML* on your desktop. Dont do anything else with it, untill I need it please, and DO NOT post it here.

Finally, welcome to Zero Paid, be patient, and stay organized, and we will help you build a P2P experience, including episodes such as the one you are after.
