Well, i knew this day was gonna come, and today my mom got home, and told me that she heard about this new RIAA shit, and that she was forcing me to delete all songs and movies and tv of my HDD... or atleast burn it then delete it. That is 100 gigs of cd's to burn. that is like 200 cds! (roughly)

Well, i am gonna go wallow in my self pitty, and burn away.

Hope it does not come to this for many of you guys.

Surely you jest! Me scared of the RIAA!?!
Like i've said before they will get a "surprise" if they come a knockin at my door.

Dude, get an external drive, load your shit on it an hide it.

Then you can delete your stuff if mommy, is still on your ass.

Ya my mom forced me off of kazza too, i had to go to the "real" underground, (my mom doesn't know what warex is : )

But o-well I like the "real" underground now, it's actually kind of cool and has alot of good links, and you know they will work...

whats funny is all of the great things that have hapened to me just becouse the riaa scares my mom:

I have friends that actually do something with their time ; ) LOL
I've learned that the "real" warez is the best!!!!
I've learned how to "do other things" with my time
I have access to all of the tools i need to "do other things"

the reason a hacker learns to hack is to learn
but
the reason a criminal learns to hack is to hurt and distroy

selected forums are the "real" warez, web sites are the fake warez

the real warez underground does not consist of links.
underground groups remain a tight group of individuals who release and keep things on the low down.
there are only members access.

anyone can access web links to a suspose underground which consists of warez but that still doesnt make it underground. its just a webpage.

just because someone goes clicks on a link that features warez doesnt make it underground or *l33t*.
In actuality the true underground does not coexsist with the above.

yeah but hmmm

k, just to update everyone, i have about 80 or so gigs to go, and it is 9:43 here.

So, I have been off kazaa for aobut 3 months now, and have been using shareaza and BT++. I really like BT++/ But anyways...

I was gonna try to explain to here about how i had a router, peerguardian, a normal firewall... and all that jazz, but all she could think about was the possibility of us getting sued for 100,000 dollars per song, and so my explanation kinda crashed and burned.

I guess she is kinda *stress on the kinda* right to be scared. I mean the threat is real, and i know some people think it is not, but oh well..

Well, ya'll have a good one.

I'm sorry, that was pretty funny

Real underground with links, RIGHT!

The real stuff is IRC, and private DC hubs, pretty much anything that has some chat and password protection.

I agree with notbob, it doesn't matter where the files are, just don't share them!

wow, that suxs mucho ass man. Although PG protects you for, about my estimate, around 90-95% of the time, i can understand your mom to be worried, oh well. Hopefully people will join my File Sharing Army of Guerillas which i call 'The International Technological Revolutionaries' or the 'ITR', lol.

simple simple problem solved if you just think of alternative ways.......HIDDEN FILES!!!! just copy your shared folder, delte the copy(so you can show ur mom in the trash can and say see i deleted it) then just make the original a hidden file, shure u arent going to be able to use kazaa, just find other p2p networks, or just continue using warez, but at least you dont have to burn millions of cds and you still have ur music and stuff on your hard drive:cross

good plan, nice and sneaky, especially if your mom's computer illiterate.

or you could toss everything into a several big .zip folders, and hide it somewhere obscure, like in your icons or system folder. you could do this method with Triple_T's for maximum security if your mom isn't that much of a newb.

If you are scared, why don't you wrap your CDs in plastic and bury them in the back yard until next week when everything returns to business as usual? What, are you afraid the RIAA is going to bring CD sniffing dogs?

tlogank
June 26th, 2003, 07:09 AM
Ha ha, CD sniffing dogs, that is some good stuff. I say screw it man. They are right, get an external hard drive. I have one with every piece of media I own backed up on it. They are great man, but make sure you get a USB2.0 one. Otherwise, if you have more than 100GB's of stuff to move over, you will have already served your 5 year prison sentence in jail for file sharing by the time all that junk copies over on a USB1.1 connection.

Sorry Mum, but all those VCD's I've been supplying you with for the past six months will now cease. Looks like you're gonna have to head back to the video shop.

Can't u just move all yer stuff to a new created folder & just hide it ?! Better than burnin it all...Then yer mommy can't find it.

A possibility is too launch the stuff into space in an unmanned ship with a radio emitter set to pulse on and off to the tune of Kylie Minogues "Can't Get You Outta My Head". This way once all the fuss has died down, in a few months, you will be able to retrieve the CDs, if, of course, you can afford another space rocket and suit.

I suggest setting the ship's navigational computer to plot a course for Pluto, just to be safe.

two options:
external hard drive
OR
dvd burner

burning 200 cd's would take forever.. even if you have a 52x burner, they take 3 minutes per cd, which is less than 10 hours in the end (since it won't be 200 cd's exactly, etc etc)
