Hi all. After a wile of surfing the net and writing some stuff up, I opened up my browser (IE) and some other page opened instead of my normal homepage. I tried to change it through Internet Options but the options for this are disabled, meaning i cant use them. I reset IEs settings to defult but that didn't help. I also shecked my comp with both Ad-Aware and Spybot and nothing came up out of the ordinary. I have no clue what to do. I think it might be something to do with a game i installed that i got from the net. The page that it set it to waz http://nimrodonline.dhs.org/, which actually doesn't work. The scary thing is that IE wont let me change it back because when i click on Options>Internet Options in Crazy Browser, the options show up but all the stuff to do with changing the homepage are not enabled and when i go to Tools>Internet Options in IE, a dialog box comes up saying "This option has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator.". The thing is, this is my home computer and there are no restrictions....well, the wasn't. I am using WinME btw. Please be of some assistance.

Narz.

That site doesnt have a trusted certificate and bogus info as the registrant.

What are your Security Setting set for, Low Med High?

Double check that and your privacy settings.

I do not know about Crazy Browser, cant comment on it.

I vaguly recall hearing this problem before, can't immediatly find it.

>"This option has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."

This usually referes to a restriction that can be enabled or disabled with poledit. IIRC it's part of some microsoft admin pack but there are thousands of copys scattered around the internet.

You should also seriously review your computer security. You are probably running a version of IE with security holes you can drive a bus through.

IE has huge security holes and that might happen a lot of times. I suggest you use another browser like Mozilla or Opera.

take a peek in the 'immunize' portion of Spybot, and read the options very closely.
