whats with xp

any ideas on this one please lads i have win xp pro sp1 athlon 1700xp 256 ddr 60 gig h/d my pc is saying the processer is 1.04 when it is not i no it runs at 1.4 but not 1.04 plse help and yes i have notices a decline in proformance any help plse
it was reading the processer right but that was long long ago and i just noticed

Use the Aida32 tool, and get a second opinion from it. That will tell you all you want to know about your system.

You may have purchased a 1.4 Athlon, but they dont report the numbers of the actual "clock speed" they tell you what they think it performs like . . . get it?

Dont worry about it, its really tooooo trivial to expend more thought about.

If you REALLY want to get learned up . . go to the windows section and look where I stickyd " Some Hardware Links" . . . . investigate those webpages.

thank you it is def a 1700 or 1.4 clock speed but 1.04 ?

do you think i may need i bio,s upgrade it was reporting the correct 1.4 at one time but not now ive ran sisandra too

When you FIRST boot up . . . . right before you see your system searching for hard drives . . . you hit Pause\Break key.

Your PC will cease to boot, and you can view your proc speed . . ram . . etc . . . if it is reporting incorrectly, then hit ENTER . . . then either DELETE or F2 . . etc . . . to go in to your BIOS setup.

Its your deal to read your mother board manual to change the clock speed . . . way too involved to get in to here . . . but the speed will either be set by the BIOS . . . or by jumpers on the Mother Board, I have no idea which, you have to tell that.

I think you should stop scratching your head and live with it.

Or screw around with it, and if you cant reboot, pay some kid $10 to put it back right for you.
