To celebrate me passing my 100th post im going to start my first poll.

How many gigs do you download a day on average?

Could you include your download speed aswell.

I download about 1.2 - 1.6gb a day @ 600k downstream

I download about 10 files a day, more or less. I have dial-up, so my downstream speeds are ridiculously slow. But still I have managed to build a collection of about 4500 files over the past year and a half. It's time consuming, but well worth it!!! :finger the over-priced cd's that are not very good anyway.

Well, see, i have 4mbit cable, and i WISH i could download over 9gigs a day (believe me i could :P ) but i have capped bandwith at 10gigs download/5gigs upload....so i basically fill in my montly cap in about a week. The other 3 weeks of the month i dont download:(

I actually dont download that much...

An mp3 here and there, maybe an album (rarity)

The only time I get on a downloading roll is when new movies on BT come out or a good game :P

Same here. I'm lucky if I get a gig in a month. Still though, quite worth it in the end... that is, if I'm patient enough.

It depends really. Sometimes it'll be 2 or 3 gigs, sometimes none.

Oh, and broadwayrock - your ISP doesn't happen to be NTL does it?

Yes it does.

NTL had an proposed plan for a 1 gig a day cap.

But recently a NTL boss said:

"We used it to contact customers who were doing a lot of filesharing and peer to peer in the busy periods and
we politely asked them to not do that and we have seen a shift in usage and that's done two things. It has improved the overall level of service and it's actually reduced the capital spending going forward"

Now they see the sense in not imposing the cap at all

i don't really download that much...unless there's a new movie out...and in that case, i'm one of the first 1000 to get it.

i upload tons though.

I don't download alot because I'm on a shitty dial-up connection. I know I don't download any amount in gigs in one day so it's more a question of how many megs I download a day which is probably around 8 or 9 total. I usually download music and when I'm feelin' the urge, porn.

Sometimes up to 3 gigs... sometimes nothing...

It really varies. Sometimes less than 1/2 a gig and other times (like this weekend) about 3.5 gigs and still going.

The 600kbps always gave it away didn't it?

I'm on the same.. and NTL are trying to limit us to a GB a day... in other words, we might as well only have 128kbps downstream! :;)

hmm, if i download anything, it's a few 5mb mp3's...

so, 20mb every week i would guess.

and i'm on a 3kB/s modem connection to my isp :-P

About 10GB a week. I've downloaded so many albums, I've probably only checked about 5% of them out. I just haven't got the time to listen to 'em.

I DL big files at 15gig/day. TWC cut me off for that. But I am now up on earthlink cable. It runs at half of what TWC was giveing me but I still DLed 9gigs on my first day. I guess you can say I'm back! :shy

I barely d/l 2 or so gigs a month depends how much spare time I have.

I'm inconsistent.

Sometimes i'll download a couple gigs a day, sometimes nothing at all.

I don't just download for the hell of it. I'll recieve an "inspiration" to obtain something, and then I work to obtain it. If along the way of that I run into some more stuff, i'll d/l that too.

I download about 10+ gigs a day using the Citylink network located here in Wellington. Most of it's like national traffic: movies, music (I use a NZ only hub for DC++). The only problem is I don't have a lot of hard disk space D= (only 20 gigs), but an ok connection (it's 100mbit). I don't pay for it so that's ok =D

At work there's a 1000mbit connection, but I ain't allowed to use that for the P2P sharing D=
