im sorry for asking this question here, but this is a reliable source, so i come here first, then go elsewhere.................the last couple weeks i have been getting an error message while im running aol..........it just pops up and says
"Waol has caused an error in KERNAL32.DLL.
Waol will now close.
If you continue to experience problems, try restarting
your computer."
The message won't go away until I turn my computer off and then back on. I can't restart using Ctrl+Alt+Del, so i have to turn my computer off then back on. I havent tried uninstalling and reinstalling AOL, because i dont want it to fail, and be left without service, but is this what you would recommend?..............I am running AOL 8.0 broadband and Windows ME..........thanx for the help all..........

i looked at those sites, and narrowed down my problems............i tried to download a kernal32.dll file, but then found that the exact file already exists in my Windows System folder..........from your links i can see that it could be a virus, or an aol problem............it isnt a horrible problem though, it doesnt happen every time i use aol, and in fact im pretty sure most times it comes up is after i shut aol down.........BUT.........like i said when it does come up it wont go away..........thanx for the links though Psilaxs............

I Use aol too and im use to that mesage now, it only happens sometimes and it depends on what website you visit and what type of Code the website uses to display its content, to me it only happens on Hotmail sometimes other websites too, but im using aol 6.0 and 8.0 is crap it takes up 75 % of my system resoruces.

I dont know what operating system you are running, but on NT based systems (Windows 2k and Windows XP, and even on occasion fat 32 based operating systems at times e.g win95 win98 winME) Sometimes a program will not properly shut down and still stay resident in memory.
This could also be a multi instance problem, where it is still running even though you do not see it, and the program does not allow multiple instances of itself to be run.
Check you task manager, go to PROCESS (Not programs) and see if it is still running. If it is close it out, and ignore the obligatory error message.
It should load fine now.

It sounds like there's a bug in AOL software (memory leak so it doesn't close properly), you should report it to them. They may have a patch or you may have to wait until they fixed it!

HAH!
Nobody supports ME, I wouldnt wipe my ass with it, its a bastardized version of 98 that only CCSDUDE and 2 vietnamese guys ever endorse, and those 2 dont even have a cell phone.
SO you load your system with ME, then about a gajilliion other softwares, then try to put the worlds most bloated crapware on top of it, and wonder why you have a problem.
The Kernal for W98 wasnt intended to run AOL 8. And even if you think you can do it on a clean, telling AOL to find free memory resources with all your other softwares installed is sadistic.
Either upgrade your O/S to this century, or use the no brainer approach to simplifying your life, lose AOL.
Here a way to waste more time

I use AOL 8.0 PLUS for broadband. My ISP is Verizon. I have Windows XP SP1 on my computer. I have had no problems with it. When I had ME I sure as hell did. I got that error message all the time until I updated My computer to XP. Verizon offers MSN 8 as a part of their service so I use that most of the time, However my daughter uses AOL. So.............that's that's
