Best console thread that actually includes all of the consoles

This poll will be politically correct and judge the systems on two Major Criterion:

1.)Quantity of Quality Games. This generally means the number of games on a system that are enjoyable and not just a piece of junk. (I.E MGS2,FFX, SSB:M, HALO), basically, good games that most people agree on.


2.) Consoles Functionality: this generally that if the consoles screws up incredibly often, it should be rated lower.


People, it's important to remember, the purpose of a console is to play games, so that's what they should mainly be graded on.

Playstation two all the way cuz nothing comes close to the quantity of quality games on it though gamecube has better stability.But I say The PS2 can win my shoe!:hole

I have to agree, IMHO, the ps2 is superior because it has more and better games, (games are the point of a console after all), the technology isn't far enough behind for it to make much of a difference, and the fall lineup is looking really good.

All of the consoles are pretty stable (PS2 the least), so I won't grade on that. As for the games (note I don't list cross-platform titles:

PS2 - FFX, MGS2, GTA3, GT3, MOH:F, Virtua Fighter 4, and probably some more I haven't listed

XBOX - Halo, JSRF, Gemna Onimusha, Rallisport Challenge

GC - SSB:M, Resident Evil Zero, Pikmin, Rogue Leader 2

It seems that so far the PS2 has the most quality titles, however that is because it has had the longest life so far. In a few months, all this could change.

XBOX for graphics and power

I usually just play games from classic gaming consoles or the latest sota ones on my Pc. My favorite console? By far the Dreamcast.

Dreamcast - Every 8-bit NES game on one disc
Every Genesis game on 4
Every Tg-16 game on 2
Every SuperNes game on 8
Every Dreamcast game
Various Playstation titles

And all without a bootdisc or modchip. You can't get any better than that.

For current systems I prefer the graphics and raw computing power of the xbox and the fact that it comes with a hard drive standard and has xbox live.

Playstation2 has the most games and most of the best ones. It also comes with backwards compatibility for the ps1 games, which before it came out was unheard of.

Gamecube looks great, but suffers from a lack of any considerable 3rd party development on its games. I have bought both xbox and ps2, but I would never consider getting a Gamecube simply because of the lack of good titles.

You missed out dreamcast its my favorite. Ps2 has good games but heck everyone I know that bought one had to replace it because the lazer or motor was screwed up they break down way too easily. Xbox my friends hd broke but he just had to buy a new one so it wasn't that big a deal but still. Nintendo I just like it because of nintendo games but if you didn't have nintendo games on it it would suck. Basically I think consol gaming has droped in quality since snes days.

i loved dreamcast why the hell did it die(ok i know that it sold like 4 consoles but what eva) it had great graphics online gaming way b4 ps2 or xbox and it had jet set radio the best game ever made! i voted ps2 cos it has the most good games and looks like their are loads still to come FF12 looks very good and mgs3 how can a game where u eat animals be bad!? :gj

p.s halo is the most over rated game ever what a pile of crap theirs just no fun in shooting a bunch of alians that all look the same.i think games like far cry are much better shooting people never gets boring!

I loved the NES, and i never owned a super nes, nintendo 64 or a gamecube.. I have the ps and ps2. I think ps2 is so popular and have more titles since its based on japanese market and games. Japanese companies turn out games like that.. But they all eventually migrate to xbox. I love the xbox cause its easy to get online with, and downloading new maps and other stuff to keep the game fresh is the best.. Games can get borring and tiring doing same level with no venture. I downloaded 13 maps for Ghost recon Island Thunder, 2 maps for pandora tommorrow... XBOX new ssytem will rule. If you ever played tomb raider on the ps1.. That game rocked, and on the ps2.. it sucks big time!!

I'm going to have to say XBox.. I own one, and although I dont own a ps2.. xbox has the media center, and its much easier to mod. So xbox it is for me.

I agree with you spooky halo is way overated, theirs such a small arsenal of weapons, controls arn't terrible but if anyone ever played a pc fps then went to halo you would know what I mean its just that much worse. Limited amount of characts etc... I just find it so low par compared to many other fps that ive played.

Yeah, same here PSX and SNES are the last consoles that I bought.

With console emulation of the older hardware, you do not have to concern yourself with hardware failure.

I like a few of the titles on the AGB, but it looks so much better on a 17" or 19" screen.

I voted for XBOX. I think there are a lot of good games, the type of games I like. It has way better graphics and stabability. I've had a PS2 for a short time, and I ended up trading it back.

The XBOX Live is also really cool!
