Been using Shareaza for a good 2 weeks, enough to know many of its strong points.
The new beta is fantastic. I haven't had a crash yet. Superb. If you've seen the interface it is sharp looking and intuitive. Great pluses. Plenty of filter options in the transfer menu and technical readouts for advanced users.
It's great for file sharing sites as well such as sharereactor and sharelive. You literally click on any of the links and shareaza begins downloading from users. It's that easy. You don't even need to understand hashing. This makes it optimum for very large files such as movies and apps.
Shareaza's weaknesses? The big files can take a LONG time (700MB movie took 3 days), but the good news is the hashing ensures you'll have hundreds of sources, so it WILL FINISH EVENTUALLY. And partial file sharing speeds it up even more.
It's BIGGEST weakness is the lack of mp3s. Very very few compared to WinMX or Fasttrack. Not only that but it seems people don't even bother trying to download mp3s on the network. 24 hours of sharing 1300 mp3s with no other media types resulted in TWO mp3 uploads! I hope with more users or networks this problem can be resolved.
Otherwise, very promising future.

I'm using Shareaza since v. 1.6 - it was always the best.
It is easily customizable (and with released plugin API docs it will me even more customizable) and always follows the network's rules.
Because it is a rival of plenty of clients/developers, many of them flamed Shareaza and its developer and spreaded/are spreading rumors about wrong functionality.
The best example was The Great FlameWar 2002-2003 [Shareaza community vs. BearShare community]. Now, parts of ed2k community feel attacked by something new, the same way as the ed2k community was afraid of emule.
People are always afraid of changes, even if they are good :devil Just keep the quality of Shareaza in secret and there wont be any probs, the hype will grow.
About MP3 amount:
Connect also to 2-3 Gnutella 1 ultrapeers. Then you should get more files, on Gnutella you mainly get audio files.

Actually that was the "Great Flame War Shareaza Community Vs Non-Shareaza Gnutella Community."
It was not because the rest of gnutella felt they were "under attack by something new" it was because of Mike using the Gnutella name for his protocol, his "shock" marketing, and him not honoring his word.

If you want to use Shareaza for MP3s, you're best off visiting PeerWeb.org and getting them from there, otherwise they don't have any sources. Nearly all of my uploads are MP3s, but only because I share and release stuff on PeerWeb.

Just like you couldnt resist taking another cheap shot at me.
All i really posted was that the flaming was alot more than just one program and listed the reasons why people were doing it.
As for the accusations which isnt new and you all have cried wolf so many times that no one is listening anymore.
I think its sad how you blew my post out of propotion, greatly exgerrated things, and seems to me continuing to make baseless and false accusations against me at every opportunity that you can find.
Not to mention that you and other shareaza forum members have disrespected pretty much everyone who doesnt think that shareaza is the best thing ever. With is pretty narrowminded and pitiful.

the weaknesses he pointed out arent really weaknesses of shareaza alone.. i mean content and speed depends mostly on the number of users..

Not all the time just having users doesnt always mean that there will be more and it will go faster and alot of people think that and maybe in the past on napster that was the case but its not now. How the network is setup and how it handles downloading and uploading plays a huge part.

i like this client, the interface is good, highly skinnable, and the best part about the hole app is the ability to connect to edk, g1 and g2 networks simultaniously :shy i dont like any of those netowks mind you :bk but it does allow for a littile omnipresence.

Yeh like seph said, more users don't mean shit. Take a good look at kazaa and see if that is really what people want on other networks.

im just too long on shareaza to be new :)
my real account on ZP was never activated [ I received no mail ] ( no_dammagE )
Of course it is propaganda and it is jubjective. But isn't it true?
With its skin support and language support it is really customizable and when the API docs will be released, it will be even more customizable. It is just the propagated truth.
