I run Norton AntiVirus, which seems to get the majority of viruses etc. It doesn't get all of them it seems...please can someone suggest any extra bits of software that may help?

Because a good programmer can always create a virus of his own, which will not be recognized by any virus scanner....

I use Norton AV Corporate edition, it works great
You should really look around the site, I know there have been a ton of AV threads

I use norton and it strips about 5 viruses a day from my personal email. So it is a good thing.

Quite arrogant to say anti-virus programs are pointless. But whatever. You are entitled to your opinion also.
Never the less, I do use the free version of AVG. I did have Norton Corporate, but after it missed an infected file that AVG caught, I switched.

Anything that will help stop people from sharing a virus is not pointless. The fact that there are a lot old viruses still out there proves that not enough people use a antivirus, with updated definations.

Of course antivirus programs aren't 100% effective but they can and do intercept almost all viruses in time. 98% is a hell of alot better than 0%.

ive always used Mcafee, it came with the computer, and it has saved me quite a few times....im happy with it....im very loyal to keeping it updated. Norton came with my comp. I also use the 30 day trial of McAfee, it's easy to get again when the 30 days is over. I think it is better than Norton.

Yea, I am getting a lot of .pif ones now. Never had these until about a month ago. I get alot from microsoft.com addresses, which are of course just spoofed.
