HotP2P is a P2P e-mail and file sharing application that allows an unlimited number of e-mail messages and file attachments of unlimited size to be sent to other HotP2P contacts.

Other features include instant messaging, private group folders, private mini-web server, and file searching.

HotP2P is made up of a front-end client application and a mini-file server background application that handles all file sharing and transfers. I can't believe this ,what mean that ?i can receive a e-mail in 1 min with 700mb movie?

email is just designed to sendsmall text messages. when you send bigger files, up to 50% of your bandwidth gets wasted on sending LARGE headers. so this sonds like a realy lousy idea

Huh? The bigger the file, the less the headers are in proportion.

There are two problem with using email. 8 bit data needs to be converted to something like base64 which increases the size by 30% (or something like that). If they are only talking directly to each other's HoTp2P nodes, they don't have to do that conversion, but then, what would be the point of using SMTP when you could just use a straight tcp link?

The other problem is p2p should probably not accept uploads. God knows what people could put on your computer if you can get uploads from strangers that you did not ask for. If you have to ask for Hotp2P files, do you send a message to the other guy and wait until he uploads to you?

Not to be blowing my own horn, but ES5 uses an enhanced shell window for its media directory. You have all the shell functions available. One is Send By Email. You can send any of your files to anyone in the world, even without permission, even without running any special application.

I'm curious as to what new angle HoTp2P has. What new features does it bring to p2p? Maybe I am missing something.

What da big deel?

You can't just recieve 700mb files right away unless your download speed is about 700 MB per second. Which is rather extremely rare. I don't know about you, but my download speed is 1 MB per second maximum.....so after 1 minute that would be 60 MB, but I usually only download at 300 kb/s max.

Hmmmmmmmmm well that sounds good but what doesnt sound good is the price. But of course there's always cracks so i'll have to give it a try!

Not neceserely in this case. The e-mail header gets huge if the mail contains more than one packet. or something like that.
