i think its a glitch with shareaza because vinnie hates mikes, and morpheus doesn't have g2 supoort. The only other client with g2 support at the moment is mldonkey(also if your using the new client it is only in beta stages).

G2 is just the marketing name. Its also referred to as MP(Mike's Protocol) and isnt supported by the other gnutella programs and really only used by shareaza. It is not offically supported Mike just decided to use the gnutella name with naming his protocol.
Shareaza does support Gnutella so its not a glitch, which is why you get gnutella servents because its using gnutella and not just g2/mp.

But some of the hosts you connect to DO.
I have a question do you upload ever to any gnutella servents?

MP is also backwards compatible so you can be connected only to MP but still get uploads from gnutella. MP is so close to gnutella it is also hard for gnutella to tell it apart.

Not really...MP uses UDP protocol...G1 doesn't...
Searches come in faster...downloads dont take forever...ok I can go on but I wont

If your not connected to g1 its still possible to get bearshare/morph sources throught the alt-loc which is completely fair since you will be added to their altt-loc as well so in turn they will be able to download from you.

last beta i used of shareaza g1 was shown with a grey circle and not the same circle as gunetella. If you look in that picture you see a shareaza and bearshare etc. with the same colour circle beside it. I know shareaza connecting to guntella is a glitch....

i agree with you because if you think about it the alt-loc is only ip and doesnt matter what protocal you use. it probably gets the alt-loc from and client that is connected to G1 and stores the alt-loc while it is connect so it then gets tranfered to you.

Please, what's an alt-loc? Is that why sometimes I get uploads on partial files even though i'm a g2 leech?

alt-loc is an alternate location from where u can download the file if they are online even tho u leech shareaza forces you to share your partials so u have no choice but to share those. So you maybe leeching but you are still sharing your partials.

Someone has to be connected to Gnutella or what you described would be impossible.

See the little "H" in the blue dot? That means that the source is an HTTP based source. All Gnutella clients use the HTTP protocol for transferring files, regardless of Gnutella version (0.4/0.6/G2). Gnutella and Gnutella2 share a download mesh (or Alternate-Location (alt-loc) mesh), where if one person downloads a file from another, they are sent to subsequent downloaders as a possible source to try. So if one person finds a file on G1 and shares it on G2 (or vice versa) then after some time spent spreading, both networks become aware of each other's sources - without being really connected to each other. Time limits on sources (One day in Shareaza, different in other Gnutella clients) prevent peoples' computers from getting hammered by file requests after many downloads. eDonkey2000 has an extremely similar thing to the alt-loc scheme, descriptively called "Source Exchange".
The same logo blue "H" will also appear next to a webserver source if you manually add one to a download or use Shareaza as a download manager.
The only other coloured dots you will see next to a download source is Gold for eDonkey2000 and Greyish-blue for BitTorrent - both of which use their own file transferring protocol.

In order to chart results with These settings turned on?
Don't go moral on me I fed many jigabytes of G1 material unilaterally into G2 when Those were the settings I was testing; I also shared everything into G2 that I got from testing EarthStation5 even though I had to set that up manually myself. And now I'm doing the same for the just-added networks when that is what I'm into, get the idea? But when I do have all the sharing turned OFF, and yet still I do upload, I am interested in knowing Why.
So it isn't because of the hypertext transfers if those are turned off, is that how the "alt-loc" works, by http? Or is it like SoloX says that Shareaza FORCES you to share partials?
If so that's useful information, what would be the reasoning and what would be the solution. Is this feature a bug, or vice-versa?
Maybe what we need is a G2 Lite (Help us Random Nut)

Well, you are found as a partial source through alt-loc, but are only forced to share the partial when you have eDonkey2000 or BitTorrent enabled. Partial sharing is critical to those networks and Shareaza respectfully follows that policy.
If you are only using G1 or G2, then you can indvidually unshare partials by right clicking on them and unchecking "Share file". Or you can go to the upload settings and uncheck "Share partial files", which means that partials are never shared unless you connect to ED2K or are downloading BitTorrent.
Ironically, Kazaa Lite forces you to share. :upside

Ok now I get it, even when I have "Share Partial Files" turned off I still get a few uploads because I have the EDonkey on and/or a Torrent going and those protocols require it, not because of Shareaza forcing me to. Thanks that helps a lot!
