Ok, I have had Kazaa for about 2 years. It has worked fine and very well for these 2 years. About 2 days ago, my little brother did something to Kazaa. Suddenly Kazaa stops working. I can't figure it out, When I try to click on the Kazaa Icon to start it, nothing happens. NOTHING! Now not completely understanding what was wrong, I just deleted Kazaa, and tried to reinstall, little did I know the SETUP program doesn't even work. I just get the same click and nothing routine. Now Im sure someone out there has had this problem and posted it, but I cant find the thread so please excuse my posting this. Now if anyone can tell me how in the WORLD I can fix this, drop me a line. Becuase I need some help, and I have been attempting to troubleshoot this for a good 5 hours now, and my last resort is to ask for help, so please TELL ME WHATS WRONG BEFORE I GET REALLY MAD AND KILL THE COMPUTER!

your best bet is to do a clean install, that means deleteing the registry setting that kazza made.

there is a application that you can find at webattack.com, it is called regclean, it makes working with the registry easy and it also cleans your registry of all the garbage that applications often leave behind when you uninstall it.
If you need help locating it, send me a note.

also once you have cleaned your registry go to cleanclients.com and get kazaalite.

or use rebound which cleans kazaa and rids it of the spy and adware it runs. also you might want to install adaware to get rid of residual files that could be left behind that you would not find any other way.

If you had kazaa for over 2 years, you most likely had it before th current versions with all the junk they now have. Were you installing the original version you had downloaded or a current version?

Yes I did downlaod the new Kazaa software, and I used Regclean and cleaned all the Fasttrack, Kazaa, Morpheus, and Grokster Registry's but I still l can't get Kazaa or Kazaa lite to install. By the way cleanclients.com doesn't exist bro.

After 2 hours of sitting around doing nothing, I decided to check my Zonealarm alerts to see if there was record of what happened there. I checked them and sure enough, there had been a corruption in the cd_clint.dll file, in the Kazaa directory, it had copied itself into the C:/window/system folder and the C:/windows/temp folder. I had to go into DOS and delete them manually, but when I did. Kazaa jumped up and started working imediatly. But due to the fact that I dont trust Kazaa lite, I think I'll deal with annoying banners for now.

Sounds like you just got a bad install, that does happen from time to time.

Kazaa doesn't just have ads, it has spyware too.

You trust Sharman, but not K-lite?

Why don't you trust KaZaA Lite? Should be the other way 'round...

There is ads in Kazaa Lite. There is ads & spyware in Kazaa. The people who made Kazaa Lite didn't take out the ads because 1) it probably takes a lot more energy to track it down 2) it's way easy to block the ads in Kazaa lite.

You can block ads in Kazaa Lite one of two ways, or both if you really want to. One ways is your firewall, like Zone Alarm Pro 3, you just block port's 80, 8000, & 8080 for Kazaa Lite ONLY. (Not other programs.) Or you can read the FAQ below on how to do supertrick.

Do you store your Credit Card numbers in a file in your shared directory?

That registry cleaner messed up my entire registry one time, but good thing I backed it up before that happened.

Hey, I am having the EXACT same trouble as you!
I was using Kazaa just fine under Windows XP. Then one day, I double click it and nothing happens
SO, I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall it, but when I click on the kmd.exe file to reinstall it, NOTHING HAPPENS.
So, I completely cleaned out my registry. Even went into regedit and did a search for "kazaa" and deleted all keys related to kazaa
Rebooted
Tried to install kazaa again, still no luck
So then I downloaded kazaa lite and tried it. It will at least install, but then, when I try to run it, I have the same problem. I double click and nothing happens.

So, I came here and found your post and I searched my system for the cd_clint.dll file but didn't find it anywhere.
Does ANYONE have a solution for me? I'm not running any software firewall applications. All I have funning is Norton Antivirus.
I've used RegClean, RegCleaner and have also manually deleted all Kazaa entries from my registry.
I've rebooted until I'm blue in the face and still NOTHING will work!
It won't even run! I've even tried setting a compatibility mode setting and none of those work either!

PLEASE Help me!!!!!!!

Ok, I'm sorry. I'm an idiot.

Well, after I made my last post, I realized there was one thing I hadn't tried.............uninstalling SoftICE.
I SWEAR that I've used Kazaa since I installed SoftICE, but I guess I'm wrong, or something else is going on.

Anyway. I'm running Windows XP and was running SoftICE Driver Studio 4.5
Apparently just having softice installed was causing the problem. Cause once I uninstalled it, BAM, Kazaa worked immediately!

I still find it strange that having SoftICE installed would keep kazaa, kazaa lite, grokster, and the kazaa installer .exe's from running!
STRANGENESS!
Anyway, I have resolved my problem, I guess. I suppose if I need SoftICE in a few days I'll reinstall it and then just keep uninstalling/reinstalling it depending on when i need SI and when I need Kazaa.

Welp, later guys!

As you all know kazza is full of spyware. If you run ad-aware it removes it all but kazza wont run without it.But there is a dummy file that fools kazza into thinking the spyware is still there. If anybody is interested in it i have the file. Just PM me with your email address and i will send it to you.
