re: links
I think I understand the reason for this...i'm pretty sure it's against the TOS and could cause big trouble (legally) for the site if links to warez were found displayed publicly on the site.
how about an indirect link to a file like
instead of using the html or vb tags you put a trailing backslash at the beginning of the html code so that it doesn't forum a link...its merely plain text which can be read and copy and pasted in the url of the browser....some examples below:
or h**p://somesite.somewhere.net/app.exe
and if the above are not acceptable..what about saying somethng like:
"Suchand Such" is out now at /http://somewhere.someplace.net
The above would not be a direct link to the program but would take you to the site..but the above could be considered a 'warez site' even thought its a 'bittorrent site' (phoney example of course)
so bottomline how about posting a non-direct link such as
h**p://someplace.somewhere.net is where "SomeApp/Game/Movie" can be found?
Is that okay?

What about links to a webpage that contains .torrent links?

how about an indirect link to a file.....
I would think that doing that could also cause trouble with Zeropaid's neutratlity on Warez. But I of course could be wrong, i guess its up to the mods to define that one. I just don't want to see this site come under scrutiny. With the RIAA going against lyric and cd cover sites, i wouldn't put it past them to attack zeropaid legally also.

i think the question of "legality" comes into play here. a "torrent" file perse is not warez..its merely a text file with some redirection script which acts as a "pointer" to an actual file for someone who has the BT client installed.
If you click a torrent link without having the BT client installed absolutely nothing will happen except for an error message in your browser.
but all this thinking hurts my poor little head...so i'm gonna stop it now...and not debate this any furthur.
my suggestion or prediction for the future..this forum will be closed as its as seph is so fond of saying "pointless" a bt forum with out torrents or links to torrents?
i don't think so....

There are only a few MAIN BT link pages, where you can find the lists of ""Suchand Such" is out now at /http://somewhere.someplace.net "
and I would like to keep them out there, in BT land, far far away from here and Hillarys' wandering eyes.
I want for you, and triniti, and Aaron73153 and everyone else to be able to enjoy ALL of the features of the ZP site, and not super jeapordize it over the latest fad.
BT isnt rocket science folks, it has its differences that we can address, like resuming etc, but to be the "mule" for the titles, is just way too risky in my opinion.
Do you know how many times that I search for something movie related, like a quote, and ZP shows up in the search? Now just envision a hundred movies titles being freq discussed. Now a few hundred . . . . .
We (ZP) didnt make things the way that they are with P2P and legislation, but we certainly have to watch our OWN arse, no one else is going to do it. And when and if we ever get tagged, no one will come to our defense, we can just kiss it all good-bye.

Krell, I agree with you, as I have tried to protect the site for quite a while by quietly removing direct links. Now we must be even more careful about what is posted, not to despite the members, but for the members. So we can continue to enjoy this site, in this age of increasing scrutiny.

I would agree, no links, no exceptions, no problems.
But I do also think immediate banning is kind of harsh, maybe a warning, then ban, and then IP ban.

I think the only legal way to do that (distribute links to files) would be to say, "one can email me if they would like the torrent." That way all the 'questionable' action is done by the user and is their choice etc..

Welcome back
Any one that thoughtful and meditative must be on to something.
We have a few good pages on BT as it is, lets pool the resources, and try to make it thru the weekend without any crucifixions.

Unless you a lawyer, you legal opinion does not matter and this really isnt open for committee..
Dont post links to illegal files, doesnt matter if its web site, magnet link, torrent, or whatever on the forums and you wont have to worry.
Since this is really a moderator issue anyways i suggest Matt takes a look at this thread in the moderator forum
http://www.zeropaid.com/bbs/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10515
which lead to this annoucement
http://www.zeropaid.com/bbs/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10593
and do what we all discussed there and post anything, changes and etc there instead of just acting on his own which isnt going to work...
