I could make a program which basically uses a minibrowser. I could make the pages in HTML, and have a special command sent to my program when you click the preview. It'll play the song at the bottom of the program. To make it legal, you wont be downloading it just 'EVALUATING' it to see whether you want to buy it from Cd-Wow. You can set the song to your favourites screen and every time you click it it will load the page asking you to buy it with the preview button once again. Will this make it legal?

Why in all honesty are you asking us?

There's only ever been one law student here, and I sure as heck wouldnt take their word on it. Think more at the library, or call someone who might know.

Keep in mind that the average age here is barely past high school, if all you want are the opinins of people who think they know everything, then settle for that.

Krell, why dont you find a different forum? You obviously think you're a level above the average user here.

Maybe you are, maybe thats why you hang around here so much. Maybe you like playing 'daddy'.

Ummmmmm there's more than 1 law student here I thought.

But I guess it depends on what level you're studying at if you include that.

I know one of the mods has done something on criminal justice, but that's only b/c he has to, forgot who exactly - sorry.

Say there's laods of members on this site and I would be surprised if only 1 person studied law, since it's so popular (certainly in North America and Europe).

Sounds like work. I hope you have money to support the bandwidth, and think about the bottlenecks that will happen.

I guess your talking about me. What I'm studying has nothing to do with this kind of thing. I'm not studying to be a lawyer. I'm also not doing it because I have to I'm doing it because I want to.

No seriously, its perfectly legal, yes it is

I just spent more than a minute on google, and I couldnt find one single presedent for not doing it.

Aye Crazy Horse. Don't know why but a lot people in my law class seem to like the criminal side to it.........

Ah didn't realise he was being spefic to Intellectual Property law, though now it's kinda stupid for me to miss that oh well

Yep, noxiousneo, that's legal. But in a way when people ask what's legal or not should state exactly what they're doing and where they reside. What's legal in one country might not be in another, and some is only civil offence while in other countries it can be criminal too.

the next thing you are gonna say is you found a way through the ft protocol, and you are making a prog for that.

it will be out in 6 months, won't it?

all these ideas suck. sorry.

i would evaluate it as i dl thru winmx, not dl a stream, then buy an overpriced cd.

Hey people, it can't be that a bad idea, lycos are doing it! They offer video as well - and no adverts at the end to buy the song, all free:

Well big companies like Lycos etc have made bad decisions on stuff like this before. But this whole concepty, I myself, do not know what to think of it lol

I think a few apologies may be in order. You regulars should know that ideas should be encouraged, not put down, however bad they appear. Even if an idea is wide of the mark, it can still provoke other ideas and perhaps eventually something good will come from a silly suggestion.
And to noxiousneo, never forget Kozo Ohsone, he believed that a portable cassett player would work - everyone else said that it would be impossible and there would be no market for it if it could be done, many believed he would destroy the company. Thanks to that man, we had, and still have, the Sony Walkman....

EDIT: Sorry NDGAARONDI, I said something untrue about you - but its gone now!
