Just found this link and i think that someone might be interested:
http://www.audiogalaxy.com/pages/band_listing.php3
or
http://www.audiogalaxy.com/pages/band_listing.php3?band_id=85141&order_by=rating&offset=0&limit=10
You can still download some MP3's from here, i guess. They are in 128kbps, but there are some interesting ones. You can also can click on "More Songs" and see what you'll get....

I think it's time for people to wake up!
Those links about AG are links for music to listen to no to download. I've tried it 6 or 7 times and it's only about 2 minutes of the song.
Then if you like the music you have a link to order the CD.:mellow

Yes, Sosua, i can help you out. First of all, choose "save target as" and if it will be saved as an mp3 file, then Winamp should play it, not Real Player.

It's good to here that AG isn't totally out. I might redownload the satellite tomoz if I can. No P2P matched AG for audio files. I managed to get some 'ancient wrestlers' tunes from classic WWE. And learnt that some wrestlers I knew who didn't have a theme, actually did, like Andre The Giant etc.
May be AG might become strong once more but I doubt it.........oh well *lowers head, now facing the floor*

I too liked AG before I knew much about spyware. If there IS anything left of AG, like ur saying, I'd be sure to run Spybot or Ad-aware. Just a thought guys.

Did it have spyware before it went down? I never thought it did.

Didn't know you could skin, but then again, I wasn't into that stuff when I had AG, just wanted those files! :fire

It was loaded with spyware. Gator for sure and others, but I don't remember. Even with spyware, I can't remember a P2P that put more MP3's on my HD.

I was not aware of the clean version of AG.
I read in a post recently though, that AG gold was still charging their old customers, each month on their credit cards, for a service that no longer exists. LOL!!! Anyone who would pay for P2P is an idiot! I'm sorry, or an extreme newbie.

The paid version of AG got rid of the ads, and there were other advantages I can't recall now. But a 6 month subscription was only $15. I thought this was worth it.

i never actually paid for gold myself but i think its advantages were that you had a bigger queue 500 as opposed to 100 and u had ag gold forum pages i think the sat may have connected to the main dedicated server quicker than regular ag but as it was p2p u had no actual quicker d/ls i had no desire to pay for this or any other service but was quite happy with the clean version

My ideas about AG
Pros were - Enormous amount of files. Selection by genre. Discussion Groups.
Cons - Slow speed of download in many cases. Limited amount of files that can be downloaded at once (unless you have.....errr....Audiogalaxy Gold. I admit that for a long time i wanted to switch to Gold).
But i think that i don't want to be nostalgic about it. Its time to move on and i think that right now there are some good alternatives to AG. My choice is Soulseek.

Sorry dude,
I meant no offence, but would you pay for the same service now? I rest my case!

Well the limit for normal I think was 100 files, no idea on the time factor. May be every 100 files per 24 hours. But I had 56k when I had AG. But one thing is for sure it's friendly to 56k users. And since AG was just audio files then 56k downloaders didn't had to wait too long. So that's a bonus! I mean something like DC isn't that friendly for 56k

Yeah, i agree that it was great for people with slow speeds. I think that we will always remember for being 56k-friendly.

I've no idea on stats to show how many people that have IC at home have which speed. But 56k is still pretty high.
Be interesting to see stats like that, and for individual countries too, IMO anyway.
Oh and I believe that when I had 56k using AG I used up all the download speed available on my line :) That only happens on Kazaa if the other end has good number of sources or has fast UL speed...well from what I know of anyway.
Some 56k users download from me, and I see their speed like less than 1k, and I'm thinking is it worth it? Oh well never mind lol

But back in it's day the Gold membership was not a bad deal. With so many good p2p apps around there is little point in paying for anything! You make a good point! Many of us were noobs in AG's time.
