BitTorrent Problem

I hope someone can help. I have been trying out BitTorrent for the past day or so and am not having much luck. For some reason my Broadband Connection just packs up and stops receiving anything? Has anyone else had this or should I be ringing the Cable company's neck? I have also tried BT++ and even BitTorrent Experimental!

My provider is telewest. I am only trying to download one torrent at a time. My PC uses XP with 512 RAM P4 1.5 GHz

So youre trying one file at a time, and in the middle of downloading, it just stops at some %, and no more right?

This doesnt sound like its your ISP, more like the person you were dl from quit. How far along do you get?

Yeah I use K++ all the time and i've never had a problem. on BitTorrent When the downloading stops my computer starts freezing up and then the actaully internet connection completely goes. I ran K++ in the background and it totally cut everything off. When I look at my connection status (the network icon down in the system tray) it shows me trying to connect to the net but not getting a reply??? If I disable then enable the network connection then I get a link again. It has happened only when I've used and 3 of the BitTorrent clients (BitTorrent, BT++ and BitTorrent Experimental!)

Theres still a fairly wide range of possibilities, it could be your network card, or the drivers, it could be your hardware configuration.

Run as few services as possible, and try not running Kazaa in the background, use one P2P at a time, see how it goes.

Are you running anitvirus and firewall too?

Normally don't have Kazaa running as well still stacked it! I don't have a firewall but do have Norton antivirus!

I would turn off NAV services while downloading, and try just bittorent.

Really you think the norton could be causing the sudden disconnection?

I think that it may be examining the data as it comes in and disrupting the operation, or your systems ability to cache the data as it comes in, yes.

Try things differently one thing at a time, untill you eliminate the culprit.

The fewer services and programs you have running in any O/S the better you are.
