Hello Everybody Again!
Since I have heard of this clone shit on the ESV and ZP boards, I have offered a helping hand to cooperate with you guys.
I didnt ban the god knows how many ZP names because I first wanted to come to some type of agreement with you guys.
Ccsdude, Notbob, Hunter, etc. - None of these guys have turned directly to me to solve the problem. Dont expect me to just solve it by myself because I dont even know all the names of whoever has been cloned and I dont know how to verify those who claim to be 'cloned'. I see a bunch of people complaining on this board, but nobody until this moment has turned directly to me other than one of my users named "John".
I'd be happy to get a full list, and with a mutual understanding, I will cooperate.
I dont think, with all due respect to ZP, that I should just delete my users accounts, specifically users who have not flamed or spammed my board, just because ZP tells me to so one sided on the ZP board. You should have come directly to me. Dont spam my board, just PM me directly.
I would be happy to do it if I had an agreement with your board because to be honest, this shit is not the kind of thing that I want on my board.
Please understand, you cannot expect me to adhere to one sided rules. All I have heard until now, via this ZP board, is that you want me to index my user names against your user names and delete my own. I'm sorry, It doesnt work that way.
I apologize in the name of my board if anybody has been affected by this shit.
Also, dont expect me to allow a system whereas people register an account just to hold the name with no intent to post.
Against current speculation that those are the type of accounts that we desire on ESV, I will say loud and clear that I will erase those accounts if I see that people are just holding them for their name.
Again, I will be happy to ban clone accounts if I have cooperation and a mutual understanding with the ZP administration and/or any other boards admin.
I have a responsability to my members and to give them first come first class status. I will make exceptions for 'known' respected members, but that is between the administration of ZP and ESV, not between a member of ZP to self claim himself exceptional.
I have responsible mods on my forum. One of them is a valued ZP member (Eviioola). We are getting out of beta testing soon and will be doing an official launch, so we expect a large increase in user accounts. I'd appreciate your assistance in preventing known spammers or flamers.
Please PM me on my board because I have very little time to come here to check up on the posts. http://forums.es5.com
Also, If their are known spammers or flamers that are coming from ESV here on ZP, I want to know who they are. I'm a part of the programming team and not the 'hype' team. The Hype causes us damage, and if it is coming from my members, I'll take care of it.
Thank you,
SharePro @dmin ESV

I find it odd that you have no problem at all with people cloning someone, in an obvious attempt to pretend to be them, yet you do have a problem with someone taking measures not to be cloned. Just seems a bit backwards to me.
Are you going to delete all users with zero posts?

ES5 boards were long only viewable after registering so there might be a lot of people who only want to view the boards but not to post. There is no reason to delete their accounts. I think the best thing to do is to remove aliases on request if they are clear clones, exactly same format and/or avatar etc.

I just can not believe that ZP has become full of whiny, sanctimonious, holier than thou's that would take their sacred names so seriously as to fill a half dozen pages of posts complaining about being cloned without even contacting the perceived "offending site". Oh....wait a minute, maybe I can. :mellow

Kinda ironic, isn't it? Well, in the spirit of a true file-sharer anyone's free to clone my nick and my avatar. It's not like I have a trademark or copyright on them. In fact, the avatar quite possibly is someone else's copyrighted work.

What you ought to do is to check the IP addesses of the cloned people and see if there is a patterned or if it matches anyone else at your site.
Which before alot of people here started to register i complied a list of some of the clones names even though all of then probably arent clones this should help which i trimmed the names that im not too sure about..

All i think that people really would want is to know who is behind it whether of not you delete the names if your own business. IMHO i think its important to find out who is behind it in case its someone who might cause you alot more headaches in the future.
As i said before people who want to blame ESV would be wrong to do so just becuase of a few spammers that were here a while ago which even though that is pretty much over if you still want to know who they were then that is not a problem.
Which if you want to provide me with user info of any of the clones then i can check it out here to see if anyone here matches it and give you any info we have that could help you. Things like what proxy addresses or ip they are using as well as the domain of the e-mail they used to register would help me to narrow it down.

Well said.
Who really cares if someone borrows your nick to use on a website. Half the people here didnt even think of their own nicks anyway they just "borrowed" them from elsewhere. So what right do they have to complain if someone on another site also wants to "borrow" them.?
Perhaps to prevent this type of intellectual property theft in the future we should all take out copyrights against our nicks and avatars. LOL.

ProShare: I don't think that was what was wanted. However.......
If someone is a clear clone of someone, then surely their account should be deleted! If someone contacts you, says they have been cloned, it is your responsibility to sort it out. That's what comes from running a Forum!

Good thing i dont listen to you then.. If i were you i'd be careful calling anyone nosey.
Since you have taken the side for every single lamer who was ever kicked off here i doubt that you would understand..
Even though trying to explain it to you may as well be a wasted effort Its not what im going to do. Oviously if they know who it is then it would help them in dealing with it and if i can help them with that then why not? Especially if that person was causing problems here.

what do you expect me to do?
go to a website for a system i hate so somebody doesn't use a name i picked arbitrarily?
at least it gave you an excuse to start posting over here and get esv back on the radar
though i do look like che, my name really isn't notbob, and i do have a job, and a life, and many more important things to do than worry about what the people over at esv think about me

i was on esv forum yesterday and a thread was posted about avatars everyone can use, well all of the avatars of the members that were copied were on that list and the file name of the avatar is the same name as the member copied.a example is ccs dudes a-minor avatars is on the list with the file name
ccsdudeav.gif, and not bob and wingnuts avatars are there to so i think esv had something to do with it here is a link to the avatars http://65.244.195.132/avatars/ why would they have them named the same as the members copied?

Thats just how their forum software works. The fact that this person is also cloning the exact info is another reason why this is not as harmless as some here think it is and is very suspicious..

Now THAT is interesting. If only in a soap opera-ish way.

Notbob each time you state that this was a way to help ES5 gain publicity in ZP and gain traffic in ES5 I laugh hard. Like I said before that argument is such rubbish. Of course you're going to use it, you hate ES5. But I'm telling everyone here that its not true, that ES5 doesn't need cheap plans like this for publicity.
Forget it man, its not something we're even thinking about...only you seem to be so concerned about the whole traffic and publicity shit.

Actually if we could see Monyak jump off the ES5 roof on a live stream, that would be great, everyone wins.
On a more serious note (not much more serious tho) I dont want bad blood between ZP and any site. As with most things around here, this is just blown out of proportion, while some jerk with his weener in a thimbal is laughing his ass off.
There are some fairly valid questions about ES5 site access and logging, but I have no intention of telling them how to admin their site, and I dont think anyone else here should either.
Lets get this behind us, debating it will not solve the problem.

technically nobody complained
it was an observation that has been blown WAY out of proportion
someone found a new way to "make friends" and talk to himself
CCS noticed an interesting phenomenon, people got paranoid (nobody is going to steal MY name, i'm registering it etc)
it's just words on a server people, nothing more

yeah, actually it was me along with CCSDUDE who discovered this. I asked CCSDUDE why he didn't post, which then he informed me he didn't even register, so it was a combination of us two.
But thats beside the point. I think people whined too much about it. Who cares anyways.

From what I gather over at es5, they have no intention of closing the ccsdude and notbob accounts.

What I find amusing is p2pers complaining about someone else making unauthorized copies of their intellectual property.
