Is anyone selective over which OpenNap networks they connect to on WinMX. Usualy I don't bother conneting to any of them but when I do I just highlight them all and connect to as many as I can (which is usualy about 8). Are some better than others according to what music you listen too? Or is it just luck of the draw?

I don't connect to any of the SonikNap ones due to a spam whenever you do a search. Then I eliminated ItalianNapster due to spam IMs and threats about how I needed to go to a chat room. So what I am left with are the inoffensive ones that are running 24 hours a day. Beyond that I don't actually test the servers to see which ones are causing trouble with files being uploaded, but generally I've noticed that bigger is not better, because the big servers are overloaded and slow.

One note on wsx lists, is that bigger is not better. When you import someone else's wsx list, you get everyone else's trash along with it. So you'll be connecting to clients using the 100 command or logging in as an Audiognome user without even realizing it. The way to check it is to actually open the wsx list in notepad and see that it ONLY contains N and A notations. If it contains T or V notations, those are those customized settings that someone else had, that you've now inadvertently picked up.
Another thing about wsx lists is their abundance in redundancy. So you tend to have a few listed doubly: one with the 8888 port and one without.
The popular wsx list is about 32K now, but if you were to go through it and weed out the redundancies and dead hosts (host not found), you would have a file size that is half as big.
