I am working on developing a legal P2P network for music distribution and am looking for application developers with the following skills:

strong skills in the areas of application design, solid API design principles, user interface engineering. Ideal candidate should have a history of successful large volume, highly scalable application development.

A B.S. or better in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is preferred. Required skills include C, C++, UI, MFC, Win32, COM, DirectX, Installshield and application engineering. Exposure to networking and device drivers a plus.

In addition we are interested in getting beta testers for the program. Anybody who is interested can respond to deecee71@yahoo.com.

Must be homeya's third cousin twice removed

He must have better english skills, and maybe an ounce of intelligence.

But in all fairness, if I may ask mr or miss....whatever your name is.

What is it "you" will be doing for "your" P2P project?

You honestly think someone with those qualifications is going to waste all his/her time for absolutely nothing?

If I had a dollor for every time . . . . .

How many times have I said that it is rediculous to solicite programmers here?

And who the hell recruits beta testers before you even have a working prototype of an app, more less NOTHING on paper. pfffft

The original poster is obviously an idiot. I bet he doesn't even know how to write a simple script. Anyway, I'll help him write a legal beta p2p program:

WScript.Echo("You're an idiot");

There. Enjoy your legal p2p program. It's a beta, so I need beta testers. Anyone interested?

when will ppl stop trying to find this false "holy grail" called legal p2p, it can't exist as long as those greedy ass corporations are around, so why not just concentrate on making a great p2p app period

THERE it works ! Praise da lawd, random nut youre a genius !

100% of the people who beta tested random nut's new program agree that its the greatest thing since white bread, and all thx to the ZP forums, without which none of this amazing work would be possible.

Random, is there any spyware/adware in the "program"?

Do you plan to release a pro version?

There's spyware included. If you XOR each byte with the right key it will spell: "Spyware inclded" which means (for the slow readers) "Spyware Included".

p2p apps are legal it's just the content that is illegal.

Ah HA !

We have a confession, my information was just sold on the internet, I am a victem.

In the newly formed class action lawsuit, I will sue for damages stemming from the Y.A.I. program, holding the developer fully resonsible.

I represent the organization - Immediate Desist In Obvious Tranfer, spearheading this lawsuit, and the case # 763-872-0u812 will be heard on June 15th.

The case, I.D.I.O.T. vs Youre an Idiot, will heard by the honerable judge Wopner

You are dismissed

It's too difficult to port it to another OS, so there'll only be a Windows version.

Well, everyone beat me to everything I was gonna say, so I've kinda changed a few things and posted for the hell of it.. :;)

1. Does the original poster possess ANY IT/tech skills?

2. Will this be a company or on behalf of the company and if so, what will you pay for the people who actually create your dream 'legal' p2p app? - or are you expecting to get something for nothing? - if so, the bad news is that those people who'd be willing to work for nothing will probably be happier working on their own and getting full credit for their work!

3. Almost all P2Ps are technically legal, it's just they can be used for illegal purposes, a bit like a VCR, Car, Knife, etc.

As for vapourware.. well.. it's not gone that far yet, so I guess posting to the 'Developers Corner' was the right move, but if this is to be pitched as a 'legal' p2p, does this mean you have content filtering control? - If so this makes you somewhat responsible for the content on your network. - Is that really a wise move?

Peace!

Okay, I see that the group is a bit blood thirsty. For everyone's information, I am not a developer (obviously) but am responsible for the financial operations of the company. I won't address all of the comments but here are a few:

1. Legal P2P - I was referring to this from the perspective of IP owners (labels, artists and publishers)
2. Lame Programmer - agreed....but when you have any sort of legal or medical problems do learn the legal system or go to medical school and use those skills yourself? or do you look for people with talents in that arena. By your thinking everyone becomes a jack of all trades crackerjack
3. Wasting time for nothing - who said it was for nothing? I think there was a big assumption there....We are looking for developers and it seems that most of the people here provide the services we are looking for so it would have been follish to not have tried here (note, I am assuming it was foolish posting here given your responses)
4. false "holy grail" called legal p2p - I agree that it is difficult but if someone gets paid to develop a program is it so difficult to let other individuals handle the licensing and publishing agreements
5. No "pro" version, no spyware has to be comparable to current service offerings like Apple to compete in the market the only difference is the content filtering as addressed by one of the comments. Controlling is a relative issue depending on what the licenses are...Is Apple controlled? (BTW my answer is no since it has been posted everywhere how to convert the files and retain the metadata)

Just thought I would respond since many thought I was run off...I find some of the posts entertaining but would you all expect this if you posted to a site where you lacked superior knowledge?

so u want to compete with Apple, eh?

I commend you for coming back after all the spoofing...

You're not being very professional though...if you want programmers go hire them!

Do it in a business like manner....because signing into a p2p portal and asking for 'support' is childish. Foolish as hell too....

So go out into the real world...place an ad entitled 'programmers wanted - good pay' and leave it at that.

Till then welcome to ZP and stop asking about such crap because you will be ignored....most programmers here work for themselves...and anything relating to peer 2 peer is released in source or free in every way other then the source being distributed.

So simply put....you act as if this is professional....so be professional...

deecee71
May 22nd, 2003, 02:48 PM
I guess I should have noted good pay....but as far as being professional there is a search going on but in my process of acquiring knowledge so as to ask the right questions I cam across this site and others. I reviewed the forum rules and it didn't appear to forbid such activity, so I posted. Going into the real world and posting an ad and leaving it at that I would say isn't that professional. Like I said, I have seen a number of resumes and a great deal seem to be application oriented or back end operationally oriented so in my review at sites such as this there seems to be a number of people who have a better grasp (or at least profess to) of full system functionality. As I stated above, I was doing research to learn to ask the right technical questions, came across the site and saw no harm in posting since at a minimum I would learn more through the responses (Again, I might have been wrong there)

he was merely speaking his mind?
when someone posts a ludacris off the wall post about something of this nature then sure you would summarize or gather from the information of the thread starter that he might be bullshitting.
because this isnt the first time someone tried to pulled this off.

does dogster? ring a bell. if not you better find out.

No one would write a program for free unless
1. they know you
2. they want to improve your program
3. your program is licensed in a OSI-approved license (http://www.opensource.org/)
4. or they pay you

a 'legal' p2p software probably would not get enough users, and would not earn anything. why would a developer with such skills that the original poster wants work for him

Sir, Yes SIr!

This thread is back, so I'll continue programming my p2p beta program. crackerjacker made me discontinue it when she found a bug, but it's now fixed. Here's the updated program:

s = "You're an idiot!\n" // from beta1
s += "Copyright (C) 2003 random nut\n" // new in beta 2
s += "All rights reserved" // new in beta 2
WScript.Echo(s) // kind of new, kind of old code
