Windows Media Player 9 Series

Hey everyone,

I know this isn't a p2p question, but you were the first ones I thought to ask...

My OS (98SE) popped a message window up letting me know there was an update for Windows Media Player. It asked me if I wanted to upgrade to "WMP 9 Series", so I said yes. It downloaded, installed, and rebooted.

I didn't play a video until today. When I did, a window came up asking me if I agreed to the terms & conditions (said something about "rights management"). I just wanted to view the vid, so I said yes.

Now I can't help but feel I did something wrong. I feel like I opened a door for MS (to see my illegitimate copy of 98SE or Office XP etc).

Should I uninstall WMP9? If so, are there any registry keys et al that I need to remove as well? Also, how do I go back to a previous version (or is there another program I should use instead of WMP)?

unfortunately, you can't

but you can use media player 6.4 (the original) instead of it

reset it as the default player, set it to play all file types, and delete wmp9's executable

Tools -> Options -> Privacy. Disable all options you don't like.

randomnut's suggestion seems very obvious now. I feel like a dink for not thinking of that.

I find it hilarious that ferrarimodena360 suggests that anyone who is rich is a fag (or maybe just people with legit copies of windows are fags). That's great! That one will keep me in a good mood for at least 2 more minutes.

Every1 has got WMP9 would have to press ok. It's because of the cd ripping capabilities. They dont want you to rip cds illeagally, do they? That makes me wonder why the hell they put that feature in Windows Media Player 9. Hmmm.....
