i have an old mac PPC thats just lying around. it has a rac out setup, so i want to hook it up to my TV and play my DLed movies on it. im sure i can play VCDs, but what about divx? the PPC is a 75mhz (i think) and has either 32 or 48 mb of ram. it only has a 1 gig HDD, which is more or less full. for that reason, i plan on using its CD drive to play the movies.
is this possible? i'd prefer not to have to convert all my flicks to VCD just to watch em on my TV...

I think your biggest obstacle is finding a divx player for mac os <x

divx is available for mac.
how well it will run on a mac of such age... well... let's say that you should be happy if you can get much of anything to run on it. sounds like it can only handle system 7 or 8... and i think divx is for osx.
everything for mac nowadays is for osx. this woulda been a great question to ask about 5 years ago.
sorry, i just don't think it's good for much except looking sexy now.
i would try to sell it on ebay. www.spymac.com 's forums have a classified section. maybe someone will be interested there.

eh... i figure its of no use to me.... ill be getting a 20gig rca lyra video player as soon as it comes out, and that'll have divx support, so ill just use that and hook it up to my tely. as for selling it, well ive kinda ripped it apart and am clueless as to how to put it back together... i always do stuff like that... for example, this weekend i voided my PS2 warranty and almost busted it trying to get inside it.... i wont do that again....
