shareazaa rules because you can get both sources from bit torrent, and the other networks with a torrent.

Most definetly Shareaza for Bittorent. The single most useful file sharing program has got to be Shareaza. It has everything. The programmer of Shareaza is truly talented. Keep it up.

An article on mp3newswire.net says:
"The third and newest of the methods is the Bit Torrent support that has been added to the newest of the Shareaza betas. Bram Cohen the creator of BitTorrent told Slyck that in his view Shareaza's implementation was not perfect. Based on comments he had read he said that “the shareaza author doesn't understand BitTorrent's tit-for-tat algorithms at all” and therefore “the client is unlikely to be able to offer as good performance as the official one.” He also slammed Shareaza for not speaking to him saying no one ever told him anything about Shareaza's support. "
So Shareaza doesn't seem to be perfect, but it works fine with me...

does anyone know if there are plans to develop a version of bittorrent to disable sharing with shareaza users?
Hopefully this will be along soon.

Perhaps he was looking at the first beta, which did have problems. But the latest beta did fix those (it didn't have "Endgame" mode). I don't know why he would say it doesn't support's "algorithms" or whatever, no offense, but how would he know? Does he have the Shareaza source? :)
It is, afterall, only in beta stages. If issues are found, they can be resolved through the forum.
And by not communicating, I don't understand what he means by that. Does it mean he owns BitTorrent and that to get on BitTOrrent you have to go by him first? If that's how he wanted it then why did he release the source for BitTorrent and write specs for it? Mike did "create" G2 yet the specs are openly avaliable and I doubt "mldonkey" went and "communicated" with Mike prior to that, you shouldn't have to.
Bram just seems to be upset that Shareaza is "stepping on their toes" just as some eMule developers were (until Mike talked with them and now they're fine).

Well because Shareaza is a leech, I never see it send anything BitTorrent to anyone, they have a very flawed implementation. Mike should have stuck out the G2 thing and try to make something of it, unless it really does suck, but i have not looked over the specs.

no he doesnt, and thats part of the problem, shareaza is a closed source client connecting to open networks with open source clients. we really have no way of knowing whether he is implementing bittorent support in a way which is harmful to the network or not. Basically we just have to take his word for it, and why should we?

well i dont want to see shareaza banned from bittorent completely (unless someone can show they ARE being harmful to the network)
but i use both emule and bittorent and would like to see a feature in both whcih can be used to disable sharing with shareaza ( the same way shareaza users can disable sharing for bittorent or emule)
And to answer the original question, i like the bt++ version, as im a sucker for a nice GUI , and i find it has slightly more options.

Shareaza is a leech? How is Shareaza leeching? Enlighten Me. Shareaza follows BitTorrents ratio, so if you aren't uploading you won't be downloading, hence you can't leech. If you can leech, then that would be not the fault of Shareaza but of other users Shareaza users are downloading from because they aren't using the ratio to judge other users.
G2 is doing just fine, but users use other networks for other files. You can have the best protocol and client in the world, but that doesn't mean it has the highest number of users/files. Any new client/network that comes out now will have a hard time accumulating users because users are already set on the clients they want to use etc.
How would you know if Shareaza "sends" anything to anyone? There are no client ID's in BitTorrent.

So you've gone over every line of BT++ & other legacy clients, then? You've confirmed they've "fairly" share etc. Give me a break, something tells me if Shareaza indeed was open source it wouldn't matter to you anyways.
If Shareaza were harmful to the BitTorrent network, you would be able to notice by running it or by using TorrentSpy, and I haven't had any evidence to that.

When using BT++ I always have people transfering from me, then switching to shareaza I get no incoming connections. But clearly shareaza is not fully implemented the BT protocol because the most I see off of it is about 20 KB down vs. my BT++ or regular BT at 200+ KB as seen in the shot I posted.
p.s. netstat tells me about my inbound and oubound connections and I can see the difference with the same .torrent files.

shareaza can't be a leech your download speed depends on your uploads, it the way bittorrent was coded, on shareaza i had plent of users uploading from me. shareaza can be a leech in the aspect that is's incorporating others work, and if it really was a leech the people using shareaza speeds off bittorrent would suck!

I have tried a number of diferent P2P. I like Shareaza, Kazaa lite K++ and a few others. I agree with the others that and with the poll that Shareaza is about the best multiclient out there at this time. I do hope it improves
