ok! i got the ideea !
now can you help me ?
i now browse the internet using a LAN that has a very strict policy. I can not use P2P programs because the server will ban me for at least one hour. The reason, they say, is the bandwidth.
Can anyone help me with a good FTP site or another "smart" solution for my problem ?

If the bandwidth is the problem, you may well have the same problems with FTP.

FTP's are usually faster and then you will use even more bandwith. Are you on a school network or anything?

And I don't use FTP's because you have to upload first. And since I have a 1024kb download speed and only 20kb upload speed max. (!!).... well uploading would take ages, and downloading from it would be a matter of minutes. I rather use a program like BT++ or Emule to get a download directly.

i use an ftp for transferring specific files to friends, but that's about it...

finding files on ftp is a huge hassle, the searchability of them is not as good as any of the p2p's...AND you have to deal with ratios and/or attaining a leech account, by whatever means the owner deems necessary.

Join some warez sites. They have public ftp's that don't require any uploading as well as members' ones that do.

My Business school had the same trouble, so the dean called us for a solution.......

Mostly the files we were looking for were shared by our friends only so we put up a hub that works on our lan.....the software is like any other file sharing application but just connects to ip's inside the lan, u can configure the folders to be shared.........

This is like a case of only 500 students in a college, in a university there will be more users..........

Any ways transfering files over a network is like copying a folder on ur hard disc, that fast or that slow.........

I believe u can configure badblue to do so, check it out......hey if you just configure ur kazaa port to 80 can they still find out ur using p2p application ?

PS: Oh we prefer not to share the folders, and simple do a find files over a network, because , you know how windows is, and you know how Nimda is, E W T Y L Amytolyypdmsnaops .......goes on
