Probably the same reason they came up with the Predator vs. Aliens comics or whole bunch of Godzilla vs. some other monster movies.
Not necessarily original but better than more sequels, lol.

I remember hearing about this about 2-3 years ago. Its supposed to have some wierdass storyline like freddy held jason under the water when he drowned and then just fucked with his mom and some other crap. I think it will be good though, I love horrors.

this thread died a little bit back so I thought I would start it back up by saying it will come out Aug 17 i think...maybe the 18th hell someone esle here prolly knows. After all these movies do you guys really think either one will die or maybe like usual a camper or 2 make it out alive with both enemies disappearing and left waiting for a freddy vs jason 2. Personally I dunno and I'm real into horror movies. Either way this film should be awesome. Anythin anyone else wants to add, who do you thik will win and why, try to make a good reason why.

Both are owned by New Line. New Line bought Friday the 13th from Paramount ages ago.
"Jason Goes To Hell" was the first Friday the 13th film from New Line.

Well my friend told me he heard something about it where Freddy Cugar and Jason would team up, or either go against each other. I can't remember, he told me something about it a long time ago. I wonder if it's going to come out, or if it even has yet.

This is a movie fans have been demanding for years. Although, I am approaching it with apprehension. Sure the trailer looks semi-interesting... but I have the same feeling about this movie that I do about Underworld. This movie is either going to rock, or it's going to royally suck. I don't think there's going to be an in-between for this movie.

Is it me or does the Jason from 'jason x' and the one from the new 'Freddy vs jason' look too bulky? he seems to look less like the Jason from the older sequels. Too much like i comic superhero.
One thing for sure this new film wont be scary. I bet it's going to be another self-referential post modern horror film.
I hope its at least going to be funny or have some imaginative killings.

I don't think so. If the rumors are correct, they're planning a Nightmare on Elm Street prequal.

Kane Hodder, who played Jason in Jason X and others, is not in Freddy Vs. Jason. They went with a slightly smaller Jason, because Kane Hodder towers over Robert Englund. I guess they wanted it look more even (an odd reason, but that's what they're saying).

Sure, Jason looks bigger and everything, but this is horror movies, I mean, you can't have logical thinking in horror movies! Anyway, maybe someone can tell me whether 28 Days Later is an okay movie or just a Living Dead/Resident Evil English knockoff. And don't forget that The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake is coming soon!

28 days later is average. Its gory but not scary at all.
It is a Living Dead/Resident Evil English knockoff. It's sad that the director once directed a great film called Trainspotting.
Where did his talent go?

Agreed. I hate how critics are fawning all over this movie like it's some kind of "artistic" zombie flick. If this movie had been made by any b-list hollywood director, then all the critics would have dismissed this movie for the piece of crap that it is.

It's supposedly going to focus on Freddy Kruger before he was killed by the parents.
Keeping in mind this is just a rumor at the moment.

Robert Englund talked with SCI FI Wire a bit about the movie only having one ending, saying... "The so-called Rob Bottin script, when we were trying to do this movie by summer 2000, ... had two endings, Jason wins one, Freddy wins one."
England was quoted saying the idea was to switch the reels at the theatres... "So no matter which octoplex ... you're at, you can switch the thing, so you never know what ending it is," he said. But, he added, "that gimmick was decided against. I kind of like it, actually. I thought it was a great kind of William Castle, you know, kind of concept."
In the end they just shot one ending..."But they were tweaking the final reel a lot. Building and building and building. ... We have many encounters in the movie. ... One of the sound editors ... said it reminded him of Popeye vs. Bluto. ... They're not as much scary as they are Freddy vs. Jason, as opposed to Jason vs. the kids and Freddy vs. the kids. That's the real horror."

Actually the story goes like this:
Everyone on elm street has forgotten about Freddy and therefore has lost all of his power in the dream world or whatever. So he uses Jason to bring death and fear back to Elm street.
So as soon as killing s start on elm street again everyone starts to remember Freddy and they think it was him. So basically Jason does all the killing in the beginning but Freddy gets all the glory.
So it works and now Freddy doesn't need big ol Jason anymore and decides to get rid of him. Not as easy as he thought.
Looks good to me :)

...or for Freddy and/or Jason fans. I have always been a fan of both. Those are the kind of movies where I do not care how stupid or lame their plots are...I still like them. My favorite Nightmare movie in the series was Dream Warriors...my favorite 13th movie was Part 1...by-the-way, is their any truth to the old rumor that there was supposed to be 13 Friday the 13th movies? I heard that rumor back in the late 80's. :mellow
