I have KazaaLite both at home and at work. Last night I put a new program in my shared folder at home. It is a huge collection of plug-ins (about $9 grand worth) for a very popular (and very expensive) program. I made sure that it was set up to share. I punched in a bunch of keywords (all the names of the individual plugins). I made sure that both files (1 packed with Winzip, 1 with WinRAR) had the .exe extension. And I made sure the program was running when I left for work. I think I covered all the bases.

I got to work this morning and did several searches that I know would yield my new program, but it didn't come up at all! Is KazaaLite flakey when it comes to what it will find and what it won't? Did I forget to set something up on it? Should I use a different P2P program?

It wouldn't bother me so much, except I know that this is a killer package and anyone who uses 3DS Max would give their left nut for all these plug-ins in one place. Can anyone provide any insight?

Thanks!

If you want to find it yourself, Kazaa is not good for it since you may end up on the wrong supernode. However for sharing, it should be alright to use kazaa. If you want to find it, there are a lot of other good programs to use such as emule or dc++, just to name a couple.

FastTrack (Kazaa) runs by connecting to a number of nodes known as Supernodes. You first search the Supernode you are connected to, and when you click the Search More button I believe it also searches others. If you were on a different supernode to the one you were connected to at home, you may not get any results for that file.

As previously mentioned, you're probably better off trying something such as Shareaza or DC if you want to be able to find a specific file that isn't distributed.
