Hi Guys, I am new to WinMX so apologies for the daft questions that follow. i have read the posts but have not found the answers I need so here I am begging you lot :-)

There are only 8 questions. Many thanks.

1) Like you have noticed, most files are horrendously placed in queues but I have read on this board how the person with the file can let you jump the queue. How is this done? I would like to help others.

2) In terms of speed what does it mean when you see 11 + 2 or 6 + 1?

3) I read the post explaining that "5 of 8 available" means that the user has 5 spare pots for you to attach to and download but I see some that say -2 of 1. What does that mean? Obviously 0 of 0 means the guy isn't sharing but -2 of 1 and -28 of 4??

4) What do the colours mean? I saw 1 of 8 in orange but I still could not download?

5) Why do some say 0 of 0 available but one 0 is in red and the other green?

6) What is the margin you sometimes see?

7) Why do some files show up and appear in green (I take that to be available) but as soon as I DL the thing turns red and I am told that the user is not online or something like that but I do the search again and the file is there!

8) MOST IMPOTANTLY, how do you set the bandwidth to be in your favour? I went to the bandwidth throttle section, and regardless of whether I limited up/downloads, regardless of what level I preset each at, both the up and down load figures were practically identical.
I am on ADSL and have a good response so far from the mp3's I have tried to DL but my throttle shows me up and down loading approx 9.5 per sec. When I play around with teh throttle the balance never shifts. They are always identical. Surely my download should be set a lot higher than the upload?
Currently I am limiting upload to 8168 (the minimum) and the download is unlimited but am still getiing - at this moment in time - up/down load figures of 9.5 each.

1) In the upload window, select the queued users you want to start and right click and select "begin transfer" (or something simlar. Or you can make your queue bigger in the settings.

2) 11+2 means that there are 13 total sources available, 11 of them are highspeed, broad band connections, and 2 are slower dial up connections.

3) -2 means that the user has allowed more uploads than he has specified as in #1^

4) the colors are tell you stuff, look in the settings under colors for more info.

5)there are no broadband or dialup connections available

6) im not sure what you mean

7) sometimes winmx is just strange like that, that has happened to me many times, i just found a different user with the file.

8) Dont cap your incoming bandwith and make your outgoing lower. If your on a primary connection go to the winmx peer network setting and make the allocated bandwith a little larger, but not too big as you could mess stuff up. You may have better results with a secondary connection.
