Okay, since we have an XMen 2 thread, and a Matrix: Reloaded thread, I thought I'd start a thread on what is personally MY most anticipated movie of the summer, The Hulk. It was one of the few comics I actually loved to read, and from the trailers, I think this movie is going to kick some serious ass.

Your thoughts?

Sorry to pop your bubble TYB, but this movie will fail for one reason: the Hulk looks like Shrek. I am guessing that this movie is using in-house CGI instead of going out and having ILM do their effects, and it shows in the character model of the Hulk. I know that it has good actors and a fantastic director, but the effects are going to be very poor in comparison to what we usually expect in a summer blockbuster.

It is similar to Spider-Man, that used Sony's in-house effects department (which i am assuming that is being used here as well) to such poor effect. Even though the movie was good, I just could not get over how fake looking Spider-Man looked swinging around; as if he were a cartoon intercut into the film (as he basically is). I like to be fooled into believing that something is real for a short period of time and I do not see this happening with the Hulk.

I will still go and see it and hope that i am wrong.

But better than "Superman".

I think the movie will be great, and even if it turns out to be a little "campy", it probally do good enough to spawn a sequel.

I can't wait to see it!

Makes you want to dance?

I saw the movie last night and I was dissapointed. It took way too long to develop and just was about his development, definately setting up for a sequel. IT was way to long and the plot sucked. I would have liked to have seen it stick closer to the comics and the cartoon series. I would reccomend downloading the movie and previewing it for yourself before spending your money.

The special effects were too obvious, the plot mediocre.

Hulk = 1 part-time mutant who's a pussy 95% of the time.

X-Men = Many full-time professional 100% kickass mutants.

That's it in a nutshell. Should come as no surprise to anyone who can do the simple math.

i'm currently "obtaining" the hulk. ;-)

but to follow up CTC's post, yes X-men 2 was an awesome movie, and better than the first in my opinion.

I personally like the Hulk better than the x-men, spiderman, and daredevil movie. The first X-men was better in my opinion, the second was ok, if there is a third hopefully jean grey will become the phoenix. Spiderman was good, Daredevil was too much like spiderman, but the Hulk is something different and made a kick-ass movie, i even liked the ending.........

I gotta agree with most people here it was ok but it could have been so much better. I thought Nick Nolte as the adversary was weak it would have been so much better with one of the established badasses from the books. I know where Lee was trying to go with this. He was trying to showcase what a bastard his father was and how the Hulk was a personification of that and I don't have a problem with that. The thing that really struck me though was that the movie was kinda boring and needed an opponent that could give The Hulk a run for his money. Not a terrible movie just not a great one.

I wish The Hulk would make a pit stop at Hilary Rosen's residence and just bash the F out of her house with her in it, then he can continue on his merry little way

Personally I haven't had the urge to go see the Hulk again since the first time i saw it (wink, wink). Maybe it was because I saw it without all big screen flash and it didn't really do anything for me storywise.

I probably will go see it at some point but I was not really impressed with the story. IMO Spiderman and X-men had a much more better story than the Hulk.

Hulk has never really been known for it's complex storyline, so I sorta new the movie was gonna mirror that fact in some way, his whole thing is just bashing the crap out of stuff, not bad, just not much of an opportunity for a story in that

The problem is that you had wait a long time to get bashing parts too. The first fight scenes (with dogs) was to dark to make out so until the day time fighting things did not get rolling.

If one is interested in the "hulk smash" aspect of the movie (not dissing it or anything) then the sequal would be more better since you don't have to go through a very badly done background story.

Not mention they did not stick with the comic version on the origins of the hulk either (unlike the spiderman movie).

Comic movies are generally hard to do to appease everybody mixxed reactions should be expected.

The best bit comes in the latter half of the movie when he escapes the compound and he's getting chased by the army bloke. The guy seems so calm when he's trying to shut down the Hulk. Meanwhile the Hulk is blowing shit up.

I heard The Fantastic Four is next. Is there gonna be any more comic book heroes that Hollywood is going to rape?

There are a number of rumors about their being a Captain America movie. But the creator is sueing Marvel Comics, but it will likely be settled so they can make money off the movie.

the way things are today, I wouldn't doubt that at all, but I personally wouldn't be interested in seeing that movie, they would most likely not make it right, not that there is much room for it to be made right in the first place

What do you mean by that, I think they could make it right, if they would make him look realistic. I thought the Hulk looked too fake and that it compromised the movie. I also wouldn't be suprised at having a Wonder Woman movie, I'd see it especially if they get an actress with large melons.

Wolfie

I think Linda Carter was great as Wonder Woman in the original series. They should find someone who does look like her (when she was young of course) if they do a remake.

PS. As for large "attributes" that goes without saying...;-)

just that IMO, CA is not on my list of all time greatest comic book series, so in order to make a great movie out of it or do it right they're gonna have to pull off a small miracle, unless they're aiming at the nostalgia factor alone or casual comic book readers, which always seems to be the case anyway

They already made a fantastic 4 movie with real people i downloaded it on kazaa last year it sucked lol.
http://us.imdb.com/Title?0109770
it came out in 1994 need i say more, but there also is a rumour going around about a new fantastic four movie which would be awsome.
My favorite movie out of all them so far is the first x-men, the reason i like the Hulk better than the others is because he's the hulk he throws everything around like its paper.
Also is any one looking forward to the league of extradonary gentlemen theres a guy called the beast who is a hell of alot like the Hulk check out the website(LXG).

If they do make the Fanatstic Four I bet they go they way of the Hulk and make the Thing 100% CGI. Come to think of it prolly do the same for the Torch too (while ignited anyway).

yup, CGI is cool if done right, but it rarely is, at least so far, but the technology will evolve eventually, the Matrix Reloaded was borderline at some points, but overall a good movie I thought

ok i just saw hulk, and i have to say the first 60-75 minutes were dull. the last hour of it is where it got good with the action scenes. if they didn't keep going on with the boring storyline and didn't repeat it a ton in that first 60-75 minutes, or even if they changed the storyline, the movie would have been better. i give it an 8 out of 10.

Actually. I didn't download the Hulk. I listened to all those movie geeks who said that you have to experience it on the big screen. After experiencing it on the big screen I have to say that I wish I had downloaded it earlier and saved myself the $4 I paid for the matinee showing.

The 1st Fantastic Four movie was directed by Roger Corman, the king of bad movies. They were about to lose the movie rights so they basically pieced together a movie real quick to try and keep the rights for a future big budget film. The movie was never released in the theatres or to videocassette and was leaked onto the internet by somebody associated with the film. Yeah the movie sucks big time but they made it in an incredible short period of time time. If I remember correctly, David Hyde Pierce (yeah the dude from Frasier) played Mr Fantastic. I don't remember who else of any significance was in it. I just remember Dr Doom's armor looked like it was made of cardboard.

Captain America has been done twice. There was a TV movie and a short lived series and later a middle budget movie.....both sucked.

Just don't expect to see a green-painted, muscle-bound freak , running around, shreding clothes, turning cars over and waking up with his still-intact trousers on.

The hulk in this film is about the size of a small house.

About the F4 movie:
George Clooney and Renee Zellwegger are slated to play Mr. and Mrs. Fantastic, respectively. Clooney also has a producer's credit as of now.

There is also a Punisher movie coming out in August, with Thomas Jane (the blond guy from Deep Blue Sea) playing Frank Castle, and John Travolta playing bad guy Howard Saint.

it's all about the money, plus superhero movies are the fad now. espacially in the time we live in now, with war, etc. what's not better then watching a superhero "good guy" fight the villians and evil.

IMO, i could careless. i'm getting sick of these superhero movies. we need more comedy, and i'm not talking about crap like dumb and dumberer. god that was awful, had like 2 funny parts.

Actually, the preview on apples quicktime site says that the movie is coming out Summer 2004. And the only way I'm going to watch that movie is if it's rated R. If they downgrade the Punisher to a PG-13, then there is just no point in watching it.

I couldn't agree more, like I said in an earlier post, they need to just hold off on some of these super hero flicks, until technology gets better, hell, they've waited this long, what's a few more years, I'll still be here, hopefully (crosses fingers)

I'm pretty sure he's kinda always been able to do that, I'm not 100% sure on that though, but one would assume that a dude that big would have massive calves, therefore being able to jump long distances, but I'm no expert

I finally saw the movie tonight. I thought the plot was very simplistic, but that the cinematography and the acting pulled the movie through. As for the Hulk himself, he was a bit smarter and more agile than I remeber him to be, but I think he was amazing. Overall it gets a 7 of 10.

And anytthing with Dolph Lundgren in it sucked, even Rocky IV.

EDIT: Plus HUlk punches a dog in the nuts!!! On PURPOSE!!!
