Windows Dial-up Problems

I have noticed an unusual number of 'errors' on my status page of my dial-up connection always when I have been connected for any length of time.

Does anyone know what the errors this is referring to and how to prevent them?

i dunno what the problem is, but i know that everytime i connect, windows shows 1 receive error. it has never affected the connection (that i can tell of, at least).

it would be nice to know what it means though...

The errors you get sometimes are unused packets(blocks). It nothing to worry about.

Turn off error correction and let them screw you up.

Get a better phone line.

Ignore them.

lol... i can handle the 3rd. lol. i always have. besides, i never look in there anyway. right-click > disconnect is as close as i get to my modem :-P

It only saves size on text and html type crap.

zip, most exe, rar, ace, iso, bin/cue, mp3 are already compressed and will actually get larger when run thru a modem with compression.

If you download alot. turn it off.
If you just browse the web more. leave it on.

even when i tell winxp not to use compression, i still see it... mostly in upload though... so i just leave it on. doesn't seem to increase or decrease my dl speeds. *shrug*
